My life..... back to reality
Ok, I know it's been ages since I've posted anything....I'm sorry.
16 mos. ago, in order to get to Columbus, I had to take a night position (2nd shift). It was good at first I suppose. I got to sleep in everyday, but the down side is working until 10pm everynight. I had to do this for atleast a year to fullfill the obligations of the offer letter that I signed back in VA. Bo was more excited about the second shift than I was, but I had to take it to move here. The good news about my new route was that it was in the same neighborhood where we live. So, I was able to come home on my break (5:45p-6:15p) and have 'dinner'. Bo has been really great in fixing 100's of dinners for me to scarf down in 30 min. Glorious life, I know... Have a bf that cooks for you most every night for you. I go back to work after dinner, work until 10, get home and spend an hour w/ Bo before he goes to bed. Still jealous?

Back in July an old timer retired from work. When a route comes open, I have to bid on it. Based on senority will decide whether or not I get the position. This opened the flood gates to try to get to days. I thought it would be a pretty easy way to get my foot in the door. I have pretty high seniority when it comes to the night side people that are trying to get to days. I didn't expect for day drivers with more seniority than me to bid on this route, thus letting them switch. Although, it's not all bad. When one day driver moves to another route, that leaves his route up for bid. Each route that is up for bid is up for a week, then a decision is made. The No. 1 most senior person retired back in July. Every week since July 22nd I have applied for a new route that has been posted, and someone with more seniority has beat me out. I'm getting really fed up with this whole process and want to smack them all. "You're already on 1st shift dumb fuck, let the night guys have a chance". It's so close I can taste it. Every week, it's been "Sean, I'm sorry but you're No. 2 on the list of bids" FUCK FUCK FUCK.
THE WAIT IS OVER!!!
Last week, after weeks and weeks of trying, I finally got a day route. YAY YAY YAY. I will be starting my new shift on Monday, October 1st @ 5:45am. I will be done everyday no later than 4pm. I can start cooking some of the dinners that I owe Bo so greatly for. Our lives can get back to the way it was before we moved here to Ohio. It sucks that I have to learn a completely new part of town, but I've done it many times before. It'll be a week or two of stress, then I'll be a pro, hehe... I'm going to and coming home from work before the rush hours. No more sleeping in though. Fact of the matter is, I'd rather take a nice nap then sleep in. Working second shift just ruins my whole day as it is now. It's all back to the way it was.... AHHHH, relief
