Following the release of the subbed making of for this film I was highly interested in the plot and HAD TO WATCH THIS SOON NO MATTER WHAT. EVEN IF I TOTALLY SCREWD MY SCHOOL OVER IT. Yes, I suck I know.
Before I get lazy just like every drama I've watched so far, I shall pen my thoughts down XD!
It was less mysterious and mind-intriguing like I thought it would have been but yet satisfying to watch all the same. Ninomiya Kazunari plays Kushimori Shuuichi, a 17 year old boy who lives with his mother, sister (Suzuki Anne) and his step father Ryuji Sone. The synopsis at
jdramas was so vague that it captured my attention. Well scratch that, I think it's simply because Nino was in it that really captured my attention and the vague plot too OF COURSE. So, it introduces a happy pair of siblings and mother family setting ruined by a drunkard screwed up step father. Shuuichi doesn't understand why his mother had allow Sone to come join the family while he's such a jerk. This is indeed explained with good reason, but it's a spoiler so I shalln't say anything about it. Not being able to stand the "tormenting" effect Sone has on the family, Shuuichi sets out to plan a murder, while juggling school, life, his part time job and friends.
Obviously, this ain't no comedy. I had to say, though everyone (commenters) was going on about how great nino was at acting, one part (JUST THAT ONE PART) left me feeling a little unnatural and that was the part where he took the bat and was held back by his sister while attempting to whack Sone. Other than that, he is pure awesome XD!!! *biased* I love how his character records and speaks his thoughts into a tape recorder, which is something he uses as his diary. A powerful symbol that appears in this is that empty tank in his room *damn I should have gotten screen caps but I forgot* his interaction with it suggests (at least to me) part of his mind and imagination. He stares at it, runs his fingers along the surface of it, lies inside that small thing, at some point he finds his sister lying it in when he came home and at another, he looks at his "girlfriend" (vague relationship) across that glass box.. so near yet so far. Ahhh that scene gave me goosebumps. It kind of gives you an appreciation of the complex emotions he's going through, with what he has or hasn't done.
Anyhow, I'd recommend this one. Though it was pretty "simple" I liked how one thing led to the other. Sometimes it would seem pretty abrupt but I think it's because of the time constraint of a movie. The ending wasn't too bad either (: Because I'm sleepy, I shall just leave this hanging (who cares anyway huh XD!!!)
