Finally managed to use some of my accumulated TOIL on Friday - took a whole hour off to go home early and do the laundry.  Knew I'd be out all Saturday, and had to get my shirts washed for next week.
Yesterday I went to Finsbury Park for softball practice.  It was a lovely day for it - not too cold, with hazy sunshine, and Autumn leaves beginning  to fall.  As well as most of the Loan Wolves regulars, there were a few new faces and some people from the other development team.  We practised with bat and ball, then played a three-way mini-game (one side bats, the second is infield and pitcher, the third outfield).  My performance?  Catching and throwing woeful, batting adequate.  I'm hoping to impove to "lame" and "OK" respectively over the Winter.  I want to get some gear of my own and do more practising, on the grounds that rubbish though I am, I can only get better.
My best fielding of the day was actually at the Stamford Arms later, where I intercepted the landlord's toddler from launching himself headlong down the stairs.  I was there for what was meant to be a Renegade meet-up for whytraven.  Most of the Renegades didn't make it, though - poor Yokospungeon was ill (hope you're better soon, Yoko), and minx2012 was working so arrived late.  The gifts from bookczuk were greatly appreciated.  Genuine Mardi Gras beads (mine are now adorning the neck of the toy gorilla which lives in my bathroom, along with his Sydney 2000 lanyard and FC Barcelona scarf).  And the "Dark Side M&Ms" were wonderful.
After meet-up broke up, Molyneux, Minxy, silverjet_allie and I stayed to watch the England game.  Not the most edifying of games, and the refereeing leading to Beckham's sending off was atrocious.  But we won, and that's the main thing.  Again the M&Ms were appreciated - Allie, Minx & I scoffed most of them nervously as the tension built while we watched the match, hoping England could keep their lead with only ten men.  Those M&Ms saved many a fingernail from being bitten to the quick.
Staggered home after many beers for a bite of supper and an early night.
