Country show
Went along to the Lambeth Country Show today. yokospungeon was supposed to be there on a charty stall, but sadly she wasn't well, so I didn't see her.
Weather was perfect - hot, clear, sunny. I picked up a bagful of books from a library sale, mooched about, ate curried goat with rice and peas, had a beer or two, and saw a few of the displays. The Knights of the Damned jousters were back, and I enjoyed their show, but the heat and hard ground were making the horses suffer. In the first show, one of the riders fell (intentionally) and was dragged behind his horse (unintentionally). You could see one of the other knights move to corall the loose horse, and it was lucky that the fallen man wasnt too badly hurt. In the second show they did, I was aware of them ad-libbing and making stuff on the fly to cover for fatigued horses and injured riders. "The Black Knight has demanded that this man be disqualified... er, we must abide by his will, as he is the champion...".
