Of course sales concerning music in Japan before and after the 2000 years have nothing in common, but don't tell me that a CD sale with 4000 copies is good nowadays ! Moreover "LIKE YESTERDAY" did better and without any tie-in, when "Blue Daisy" gets one (a TV show on TBS) so ... it's clearly a warning sign for buriguri !!
Ryo's leaving has already affected the band (cover song, foreigners on PV, guitar's sound different, ...) and it's maybe only the beginning !
And how can you say that Ryo didn't add very much to the brilliant green ?!? O_O First his guitar sound and solos are just awesome and precise, you notice his sign and style each time you listen to a buriguri song ! Then ok, he didn't composed as much as Shunsaku, but you seem to forget all these fabulous songs he composed in the past and that built this famous TBG sound we all love. Songs like "Baby London Star", "I'm In Heaven", "hidoi ame", "I'm a player in T.V games", "That boy waits for me", "Day after day", "FRENCH GIRL" and "LOS ANGELES" instrumentals ... and more.
No honestly, the brilliant green without Ryo Matsui will never be the same ! :(
I feel like there has a lot more to do with why they got the rankings they got then just "OH NOES, RYO LEFT" lol. It also has a lot to do with what else was released that week. Also I think the tie-in's they are going to get in the future are not going to be very good, which won't help sales. I think they had a better chance before under Sony, I can't think of any top selling Warner artists (BONNIE PINK is the only other Warner artist that even comes to mind). It's sales aren't good, but it's not really terrible. Normal sales I would say. Back when they returned from their first hiatus their sales had taken a drop, to what during that time was average.
I also don't see what a cover song and foreigners in the music video having to do with anything. I think your thinking too much into it. Tommy has always featured foreigners in her solo videos, and a lot of other Japanese artists do as well.
