So I was trying to think of things I can do to get ready for the baby, but I'm trying to stay away from buying the 'big' stuff like the furniture, clothes, etc. until after the next ultrasound (when we find out the babies sex), so that kind of crosses off a lot of my options.

But I finally came up with something I can do - baby proofing. So I found some good articles I thought I would share:

This one is from About.com and is a bit long - but informative.

This one is from the Mayo Clinic and I really liked the 'get on your hands and knees' idea.

This article separates it into two sections, newborn through three months and four months to a year, and I really liked this part:

"Keep coins, small toys, nail scissors, and balloons -- any item that is small enough to fit inside a cardboard toilet paper roll -- out of infant's reach."

The toilet paper roll just seemed like a really good way to measure.

Also, what else do the rest of you do to get ready for the baby, without going out and buying the 'big' stuff?
