*Is grinning slightly, both a little cheered and a little awkward from seeing such an exchange. He remembers his question soon enough, though...*

Why would anyone leave a message like that on your answering machine?

Do you remember how I told you about my spirit medium abilities?

[Not that it's easy to forget, but just making sure.]

Yeah. You said something about how you'd sometimes use them to deal with spirits, back home.

*Not only remembers, but shows no concern over these facts. After all, he trusts her more, now.*

[Nod]

... My mother put me on TV shows, with other spirit mediums. People compared me to them... and decided I was a fraud.

... And so because they thought you were a fraud, they decided to leave horrible messages telling you over and over to die.

That makes no sense. Why would they do that? How would you being a spirit medium even affect them, it's none of their business!

... I don't know.

[Though inside, she's a little touched by his reaction.]

It just doesn't make sense.

*Rakes his fingers through his hair.* ... Why would they even think you were a fraud in the first place? I mean--it's kind of obvious you're not. Just look at--... well, the stuff you've sensed. *Looks significantly down at himself, shrugging.*

What I said was often different from what others said.

[They weren't wrong--they just weren't completely right either.]

Well, were you right about it?

I don't think I was wrong.

Then they're the morons for not realizing you're the real deal. It's as simple as that.

[She's silent for a moment.]

... Thank you, Danny-san.

*Grins a little awkwardly, but sincerely.*

Hey, I'm just calling it like it is.

*After a moment he coughs a little, and says,* By the, uh, way, I'm pretty much done with lab work and that community service thing for the day. Wanna go and grab a hot chocolate at the cafe later, or something?

*On impulse,* We could probably even call that Watanuki guy, too, if you wanted. *After all, he's met the guy now and knows he's not a total secret-busting jerk. That, and the dream qualifies him as 'decent', if kinda sappy.*

[She's a little surprised that he's now willing to meet with Watanuki, but happy, nevertheless.]

I'd like that.

[However... community service? She'll have to ask about that later.]

Awesome. Does four-ish sound good? I'll call Watanuki and see if he can make it, too.

*She totally should. It'll be a great story to look back on and laugh at, someday.*
