Horses loose on the road! Pickpockets! Fire!

On our way to Homebase, we encountered two large piebald horses galloping down the road. No riders. Very pretty, but not entirely safe at the roundabout.

I had my arms full of lanterns at Homebase. It seems as if someone picked my pocket (well, my bag) while I was thus rendered helpless. I only know this because a couple of people found my purse on the road, and very kindly drove to my house and returned it to me. No cards missing, but all the cash was gone. Could have been worse; at least I got my purse back! Homebase are checking the CCTV.

We cooked last night on our new firepit.

A firepit is like a barbeque, but you can make proper fire. With wood, and paper, and flames. With steak, and sausages, and veggie skewers, and marshmallows.

(Don't use metal skewers for the marshmallows, or you'll burn your lips trying to get the sticky gooey yumminess off. I used a green stick, and did not burn my lips.)

We sat with Ursa Major slowly wheeling overhead, tealights and lanterns everywhere, good food, a couple of mugs of red wine and our little fire.

It takes a great deal of effort to be able to cook like a caveman, but it's so worth it!
