Castor's thread kind of pinged her. xD chaostorm December 4 2009, 20:39:14 UTC
I believe I require some sort of weapon. Perhaps nothing so crude as a club, nor so needy as a sword.

Well I've never thought of a sword as needy, but okay. What about a dagger?

[she's resisting the urge to say something about daggers being pretty self-sufficient.]

Two would be excellent.

[This does happen to be one of the days Cara works at the stall, so she waits there for Grace to arrive... it isn't something she's looking forward to, but Grace doesn't strike her as malicious, just arrogant and selfish, so she's not going to be petty about it.]

[She finds herself on a break from her stall and makes her way to the Weapon's Stall. She knew of it, but had never really made too much of an effort to arm herself. She stops outside and looks up, then walks in.]

[Cara gets up from behind the counter. The first thing she notices about the gal who walks in is her strangely-colored hair, a very bright shade of cyan. It goes oddly with her fancy outfit... she takes a guess.]

You're Grace, right? I'm Cara.

[She pauses.]

Ah, Cara.

[So this was Cara. Hm.]

I am Grace. I believe you mentioned having plenty of daggers for sale.

[Business was business; She had to be polite to this person to get a dagger or two. It was as simple as that.]

[Yeah, Cara's doing her best to keep her dislike off of her face. It's easier than it would have been if Grace wasn't also keeping her manners. But it's still less chatty than she usually is with a customer.]

Yep. They're over here--you can get the feel of them if you'd like, just don't wave 'em about too much.

[She leads Grace over to the table where the daggers are laid out. There is a good selection, from sturdy and well-used blades to some more dainty-looking but still sharp ones.]

I will not 'wave them about', I assure you.

[She looked them over, clearly attracted to some of the daintier blades. A finger touches the hilt of a particularly fancy one.]

What are the...

[She trails off, clearly confused. What was she looking for? It was frustrating.]

Properties?

[Cara raises her eyebrows slightly at how Grace seems to be more interested in the fancy, pretty-looking daggers rather than the worn but serviceable ones that she might have chosen. She wonders if Grace actually knows how to use a dagger and is about to ask that when Grace speaks again.

Well, maybe she does know what she's doing.]

Properties? If you mean enchantments or elemental powers, I'm afraid these don't have any. They're just very good for sticking into things.

[She ignores the weapons dealer. It is her choice, after all, and she liked nice weapons, thank you very much, Miss Judgmental.]

Ah, Enchantment. That was the word.

[Strange that none of these would have any. It was disappointing, almost.]

And you are not aware of any dealers who do sell enchanted daggers, I will assume. Or are unwilling to share business.

[It was not phrased as an accusation, but a statement of fact. She picks one of the nicer daggers up and holds it. Strange. She looks at it again and moves her wrist up and down as she feels the weight of it.

A lady should not have such a familiarity that was ringing through her as she did. That was what guards were for. Was this related to that horrible food?]
