I got back from the Thursday/Murder By Death show earlier. MBD opened and played mostly new stuff, which wasn't all bad, but when they played the old stuff (which is so much better) they didn't have enough people to play the piano, so that part of the music was missing from those old songs. It sucked not to have that depth, but they were still awesome.
Then a band named Fear Before the March of Flames came on and sucked up the place. They were pretty horrible, unintelligible screaming and over-the-top guitars.
Thursday was okay, but everything, like usual, was turned up too loud so everything was just a jumbled mess of sound. Oh, and this was bullshit: after the pit had been going strong for about 5 songs (I was in the for last 2) when it got a little too full of mid-teens and little emo jackasses who kept falling down. So, 5 huge security guys stepped in and stopped EVERYTHING, and stood there for the remainder of the show. About 10 people got thrown out for trying to move the crowd around a little.
Liabilities be damned, security ruined this show for me and just about everyone else on the floor there. If you buy a ticket for a screamo show, you know DAMN well what you can expect, your lawsuit would be LAUGHED at if you ever sued over an injury sustained at the show. Plus, these security must not know a damn thing about music shows, because there is an unspoken bond in pits, a set of laws that everyone understands:
1. If someone is tying their shoe or picking up their glasses, form a wall around them for protection until they're finished.
2. If a girl gets caught and she wants out, you help her get out out immediately.
3. If someone falls down, stop everything and get them back on their feet.
Instead of helping us to enjoy the show, they made a joke of it. $20 poorly spent, in my opinion.
