I arrived at MIT yesterday. Actually, first I arrived at Logan Airport (surprise). But after that, I got picked up by a van of MIT people and driven to the student center to check in. We left our bags at the curb where people were standing to direct newly arrived frosh. We went into the student center, checked in, got orientation + FPOP information and then went back to head to our dorms. I had my laptop case, a backpack, a rather large duffel bag (with no wheels >_<) and a wheelie suit case. Carrying things back to Random (which is about two blocks north of the rest of MIT's campus) would be interesting. I was struggling to carry everything and kept readjusting things to find the most efficient way of doing so. After awhile, though, a really nice man came by and helped me readjust my stuff. After everything continued to fall over, he offered to help me carry my stuff back. I felt kinda bad, because I just met him and I didn't want to put him out of his way, but he insisted and helped me carry some of my stuff. Then his wife and daughter (his son is the one going to MIT, but he was doing stuff) helped me carry my stuff all the way to Random (which, as I mentioned) is quite a walk. It was so nice of them! People like that are awesome. They helped me carry stuff up to my room, where I left it in front of the doors. I thanked them profusely and said goodbye, then went to the front desk to sign in at Random and get my temp key and whatnot, went back to my room and threw my bags into it.

I met some really awesome people here, so I expect to have a good time next year. And the rooms are really nice :). After I threw my bags in, Brad (an upperclassman...I think that's his name, at least) shouted "All frosh come here!", so I came out of my room. At the time, Enrique and I were the only frosh in the dorm, so we both met up with Brad and he showed us around the dorm a bit. Seems very nice, as I said. We then went down to the lounge and he showed us some pretty amusing shows. The most memorable of which was the "Robot Insurance" commercial, from SNL, and R Kelley's deep and meaningful show/soap opera/music videos called "Trapped in the Closet". If you've never seen it, Google it and watch it. It's sooo funny, but in a mostly unintentional way. Plus, R Kelley sings the whole thing (and all the small details) to make it bathetic to the point of hilarity (although, like I said, I think he was trying to be serious when he made it...although maybe/hopefully not? haha).

Anyway, lots of other fun stuff ensued, including a fairly exciting game of gluck--a rather intense card game that used four decks of cards. At first it seemed confusing, but after awhile I got used to it and it was really fun. Not to imply that I'm actually any good at it...although it was still cool. It uses four teams of two people (or, if you have an odd amount, someone can be by himself), so each frosh paired with an upperclassmen who knew the game.

Anyway, I'm hungry for some lunch, so bye.
