Powers in Landel's:
Unlike most people capable of kicking others' asses, Haseo has been merely stuck in the body of a videogame character and therefore has not been through the sort of real-life training needed to pull off what he can do (well, theoretically, since a great deal of it is impossible by "real world" standards anyway). While he's still capable of many of the moves he had in 'The World', if asked about it he wouldn't really be able to explain anything unless he went through the trouble of studying himself in the process... or if whoever wanted a tutorial in pressing buttons on a controller. In addition, although he's still stronger than he would be in his actual body, fighting effectively pretty much requires him to have something decently similar to the weapons he wields in-game. For example, having a short weapon in only one hand will likely throw him off.
In other words, it's all muscle-memory and instinctual. In fact, if a character is pretty in-tune with others' body language, they might notice that outside an actual fight, Haseo does not move like he "should." His body in Landel's is like a hybrid of his PC and actual body. He's still fast and able to take a decent beating, but definitely not anywhere close to his near-teleportation speed, and he doesn't have the sort of strength to run and run and battle constantly like he does in the games. In addition, although fun, his Arts skills (and the gravity-defiance) are unavailable to him in full while he's at Landel's, as well as the ability to complete a summon for Skeith (...usually).

CM-US Effects:
On Haseo's fourth night at Landel's, he was drugged and dragged upstairs by the staff to take part in a
CM-US, or Character Mess-Up Session. The title is not misleading.
As a result:
- Haseo now remembers that he used to play Sora. At the end of .hack//SIGN, the first 'Phase' Skeith attacked/merged with the Sora player character, causing his player to go into a coma and become trapped inside the game. Although Kite eventually saves him (during the events of the first .hack game series), when he wakes up he doesn't remember 'The World' at all. The M-U doctor changed this for Haseo by forcing him to relive most of it.
- New wavemarks! In addition to the tattoo-like wavemarks Haseo arrived at Landel's with on his face and chest, he now has
symbols resembling
Skeith 1.0's wand on his shoulders.
- Memory issues. Hacking - and actions closely resembling it involving drugs and the mind - aren't necessarily gentle processes. If Haseo does something like getting a name wrong or stares at someone like he's never seen them before, he's probably not trying to be an ass. Sorry. >>

What Haseo doesn't know (yet):
(Haseo is taken from directly after beating Sakaki's AIDA during the Sage Palace Tournament finals- as he warps out from the Arena in order to meet the rest of G.U. over Yata finally being found again. Also, here be major end-game spoilers.)
- Ovan's reason for all his nonsense. Ovan's younger sister, Aina, was the first of the Lost Ones. Because of pre-existing health issues, a Data Drain was not enough to cure her infection/Doll Syndrome/whatever and so he turned to other means. His Avatar has the ability to reset the Network and rid it of AIDA completely, but only Skeith can activate it, and only after it has absorbed the power of all the other Avatars first. Therefore.... :|
- Yata is the last-to-be-revealed Epitaph User. So far Haseo only knows of himself, Kuhn, Pi, Atoli, Endrance, Sakubo, and Ovan.
- Saku isn't real. "Saku" is actually an alternate personality of Bo's and not his twin sister as they claim. This is revealed shortly after where Haseo is taken from, when she declares herself to be "leaving the game." And you know, stop existing in the process.
- His Xth/Dual Gunner form in general. Haseo thinks he has his final Job Extension as an Adept Rogue and normally, he'd be correct if he wasn't all Special. After he defeats Ovan for the second time and activates the Rebirth, Haseo is damaged and Zelkova saves him by modifying his PC as he comes to terms with Skeith. Damned!Alkaid has mentioned that he looks different by her time and that the new form uses guns, but that's about it.
- Zelkova is a hacker and the master of Net Slum. As in instead of just the cute guildmaster of Moon Tree and stuff. Net Slum is a turtle blimp technically illegal area where unwanted data gathers, as well as eventually becoming a refuge against Cubia, allowing people there to access all the servers without going to their respective Root Towns.
- Cubia! The 'Anti-Existence' to The Key of the Twilight... which Haseo in Xth form just happens to be. Cubia's influence spreads throughout the Network and almost crashes everything, which would have caused the Third Network Crisis and pretty much Nuclear Apocalypse. Online games are srs bzns. But Haseo and company defeat it, using the combined effects of their Avatars (and support from those who don't have one) and it's all good in the end.
- The true purpose behind the Azure Knights. Created by the Aura, the Goddess of 'The World,' and imperfectly modeled after the heroes of the game's previous incarnation, they're AIs designed to protect her and pursue/combat AIDA. This sometimes implicates them because they... can't talk and explain why they're in the same place as the anomaly (see: "Tri-Edge"). :| Haseo suspects most of this, except for the part about Aura, but is thrown off in
damned because AFK is there and attacks people occasionally....
