Internet whining

Turns out I passed my Japanese mid-term, which should be good news, but since I'm an overachieving bastard (and always have been - I can still remember breaking down in tears in first grade for the simple reason of not scoring best at a test), I'm instead rather bummed over missing the "passed with distinction" grade by a measly 2.8 %. It would probably have been better to have missed by 20 % or so, I tell myself, knowing perfectly well that is a lie. I'm pretty good at lying to myself.

In other news, financial law really sucks. Well, not financial law per se, but the tax part, which we're doing now, is thoroughly boring. Not only can I barely force myself to even attempt to read the books; even the professor seems to lose himself in the multitude of regulations and exceptions that flourish in the Swedish Income Law (which consists of 66 chapters + appendices), as he spends half the lectures mumbling incomprehensively.

Oh, well, this is of course just a temporary slope among many others in the life of a struggling student, so never do worry. The Japanese final has precedence over the mid-term, so if I score well on that one, I can still make the grade on the whole course. Furthermore, the law may well seem somewhat more graspable at a later stage. Or so I hope.
