[For Susan]

Settling into the easy rhythm of the island hadn't been simple by any stretch of the imagination but Niko had managed. Cal's presence, along with Robin and Ishiah, had helped immensely and helped to make it so that Niko had to worry less about the state of things in New York. He still didn't entirely trust the benign nature of the island, not fully, but it was easier when there'd been nothing to go against his instincts.

There had been people that reminded him of home, like Sarah and Zeke, and there had been one person who was something entirely different. Susan was refreshing in her simplicity, a mother simply trying to do the best for her children and any mistrust Niko had of her when he first arrived had melted away in subsequent meetings. He worried about her, especially after learning the father of her children had recently disappeared, and he supposed that worry was the impetus for his visit today. Her home was in a more secluded, residential area of the island and his stumbling upon her would be no real accident.

"Susan? Are you busy?"
