So of course there are one or two people who for some reason or other are not fans of William Shatner. But even so, I really think that his album 'Has Been' has something to offer anyone who loves music. Mind you, its not music in the conventional sense. If you were to listen and expected to hear him "singing" and have a traditional band in the background, then obviously 'Has Been' is not for you. The thing is though, music comes in more than one form. Is rap/hiphop music? if it is, why is it even accepted as music? I truely see Shatner & Ben Folds breaking some fresh ground here. It may not be the pioneer of this form of music but i would hope that it may inspire more to think outside the customary sense. To me, 'Has Been' is something new (a word overused and misunderstood), and i really think a ton of people would really take a liking to the album (even those who claim to dislike Shatner).
so... a quick excerpt of some of his lyrics;
I have saved the world in the movies
So naturally there's folks who think I must know what to know
But just because you've seen me on your TV
Doesn't mean I'm any more enlightened than you
And while there's a part of me
In that guy you've seen
Up there on that screen
I am so much more
And I wish I knew the things you think I do
I would change this world for sure
But I eat and sleep and breathe and bleed and feel
Sorry to disappoint you
But I'm real
