Yoongi texts him about an hour before class telling him he won't be going since he'll be up in the Photography room working on his photo portfolio. It dims Jimin's day. The only reason he can tolerate art history, look forward to it even, is because he gets to talk with Yoongi alone. So, he does a stupid thing and asks if he can join. It’s stupid because as he waits for the reply he’s completely nervous and it shouldn't be because they're friends. A friendship where Jimin's entire day is based around looking forward to talk with him. Where, when Yoongi replies to him saying Jimin's an awful freshman, but sends another text saying sure, Jimin smiles and heads out right away. Where when Jimin opens the door and Yoongi looks up and offers a small smile and a hello, Jimin stomach gets jittery and he grins back without thought.
Friendship.
The photography room is like any other classroom, except on the side there's a row of computers and in the back is the dark room that they use for developing. Jimin only knows because he went inside, since Yoongi wouldn't tell him what it was, and then Yoongi trapped him in there for a bit. This time, Yoongi's moved about four desks together to make one giant desk and has a bunch of pictures scattered around them.
Jimin brings a chair over and watches Yoongi organize the photos. At least, he thinks he's organizing the photos, since Jimin can't see a pattern himself.
"Are you going to sit here and watch me?" Yoongi says.
"I didn't think you wanted me to bother you."
"You're already here." Jimin frowns because he didn't think about that. He didn't think that he could possibly be bothering the other. He didn't think that Yoongi would just say yes to be nice. He didn't think- "That’s-I meant I wouldn't have said yes if I thought you'd bother me." Yoongi turns and offers a smile, "You can talk, it's okay."
"Uh," Jimin says because that was oddly nice.
“Yes, nice conversation starter,” Yoongi chuckles and goes back to the pictures.
Jimin frowns, then stares back along with Yoongi. "What are you doing?"
"I'm sorting them into the different techniques we learned."
"Oh, is that how a photo portfolio works?"
"Not really, I'm supposed to show off my best photos but I figured it would look better if I showed variety."
Jimin nods, "What is this group?"
Yoongi glances over, "Vibrancy theme." Jimin doesn't really see it, but alright. He scans over all the pictures, then he lands on one of him. He doesn't actually remember this, it's at some time when he was in the student center. There's a lot of people in it actually, but they're partially blurred.
"What about the group I'm in?"
"What?" Jimin points over to a set of photos in the middle of the desk above Yoongi. "Oh. That was. Tilt Shift. Yeah."
"What's that?"
"When you-kind of-make a specific thing in the picture the focus."
Jimin grins, "So, I was the focus?"
"Maybe I shouldn't have said you could talk." Yoongi glances over, then laughs when he sees Jimin's pout. "I'm joking, okay." He turns back to the photos, smile still in place while he looks them over. It’s exactly like how he smiled when he was doing his midterm, how he smiles whenever he's focused on photography. So passionate and happy and just seeming like in that moment nothing could sour his mood. But, a few words asking him about it and it does. It’s such a sensitive topic and Jimin doesn't understand why. He wonders for a while, as he watches Yoongi switch photos and noting, probably more to himself than Jimin, exactly why it’s switched categories.
"You like photography a lot," Jimin starts, because that seems like a good way to broach the topic.
"Yeah, it's relaxing." Yoongi doesn’t even look at him, lips twisting before he switches two different photographs.
"Then," Jimin fiddles with the picture in front of him. "Why isn't it your major?" It comes out way too fast and he doesn’t even know if Yoongi understood. Or he could be ignoring it because Yoongi tends to do that when he doesn’t want to acknowledge something. It’s five quiet and nerve-wracking seconds where Jimin is deciding whether to bring up something else, but then Yoongi sighs.
"I actually wanted to do Music." Yoongi replies and Jimin glances over to see him staring at the desk with this bitter expression he always has when Jimin asks. "Right from when I started high school it was all about doing music."
"Um." And Yoongi looks over at him, making Jimin look away. “Really?” Music has always seemed more like a hobby, since Jimin rarely runs into Yoongi doing music things compared to him taking photos.
"Yeah, that's what I brought up at first." Silence stretches on as Jimin stares down at the photos littering the desk. And Jimin's question hasn't really been answered, but it's more than he's gotten ever and more than he thought he'd get (though any type of information is more than he thought he'd get). He's content with that, about to switch the topic to something else-
"My parents laughed in my face. And I could deal with that. It's pretty hard for music people, it's more being discovered than earning it. I thought they were being realistic." Yoongi's just messing around with the photos now, moving them back and forth. "Then, I thought photography. I mean, yeah, it's art and art's almost worse than music, but I was always interested and I took photography Senior year and liked it. I liked it enough to research plausible and attainable jobs, some way for them to accept it. I even gave this whole speech to them about being a photojournalist, I could take pictures for the news and I could double major in political science or some shit so it's not just art y'know." Yoongi sighs again. "My dad stepped on my camera in front of me. He yelled at me and shit, called me lazy and that I wanted to coast through life and live off them, but honestly the camera was the worst. I paid for it on my own." He stops fiddling with the pictures and leans down over the desk.
"Oh." It kind of slips out of Jimin mouth before he can stop it.
"Yeah, oh." Yoongi smiles over at him, but it's missing that playful glint and it's not Yoongi. It's sad and exposed. "You're such an awful little shit. Why did I tell you any of that? Not even Hoseok knows this because he knows not to pry with me. But you-" He sighs again.
"I'm sorry," Jimin mumbles. And he is. Yoongi's not a heart on his sleeve kind of guy. He's kind of awful at emotions, with other people and himself. But, Jimin kept asking.
"Hey." Yoongi says and when Jimin looks up, he nudges him so hard on the forehead he almost falls out the chair. "Don't look so upset to try and guilt me. When you frown you look like a monkey, it makes me laugh not feel guilty."
"I don't look like a monkey!" Jimin pouts.
"Alright, whatever," Yoongi smiles. It's silent for a bit, not as awkward as it was before, but it's still a little off. Whatever Jimin thinks to bring up sounds weird. Everything he thinks about comes with the weight of his knowledge about Yoonig’s parents. Yoongi had never gone home once, never talked about home either, but-
"You're coming to tomorrow's performance, right?" Yoongi says.
Jimin takes a second to comprehend that. "I thought you didn't want me and Taehyung to go?"
"Huh?"
"You said it was a bad idea?"
"Oh," Yoongi scratches at the back of his head, "No. That was about Taehyung-"
"What?"
Yoongi looks over, then shrugs. "Well, it doesn't really matter now, I guess. Hoseok was going to do this really elaborate thing to ask Taehyung out in the middle of his rap which would have been a bad idea. Taehyung's awful with being the center of attention, he'd probably burst. We finally managed to convince him of that and-"
"What." That's not the reason Jimin was expecting at all. Then it dawns on him that Taehyung had mentioned going to eat with Hoseok about ten minutes before Jimin left. And- "What! He's alone with Hoseok-hyung right now."
"Yeah, he's probably asking right now in some special and meaningful way. I don't understand why he can't just slip a let's see a movie tomorrow or something. It's a lot easier."
"It's hard to ask someone out, hyung." Jimin says it before he can think and he chooses to stare at the photos, even though he's already memorized them, instead of seeing Yoongi looking at him.
"I know." For some reason, those two words sound like something Jimin can't grasp and when he looks over, Yoongi's smile is kind of different. He's about to ask, but Yoongi ruffles his hair so much his bangs end up messed up in front of his face. "Help me pick out the best photos so you're of some use."
---
It takes maybe an hour for Yoongi to get tired of him and throw him out. At least he does it in a nicer way than that, says Jimin should do other work and Yoongi's held him for too long. Jimin gets the message
When Jimin unlocks the door, he sees Taehyung sitting on his bed, laptop in his lap, but focused on the wall in front of him with his large, large smile. It takes Jimin slamming the door shut for Taehyung to even notice him and all he does is beam right at him.
"What?" Even though Jimin knows exactly what, but Taehyung looks too energized and Jimin doesn't want to kill that.
"Hoseok-hyung wants me to go hang out in the city with him and go to dinner. He kissed me and said he wants to date. Hoseok-hyung-" And Taehyung is smiling so wide and he cuts himself off by bouncing on his bed.
Jimin smiles, "Finally." Because finally, this took too much effort. But, Taehyung doesn't even seem to hear him. He's too overjoyed and bouncy and energetic and his laptop is dangerously close to falling off his lap.
(It does.
Taehyung doesn't even care.)
---
Taehyung has been buzzing around the entire room talking about what he should wear and how he should style his hair and maybe he should just go with a cap? while Jimin watches him circle around their room twenty times over. He might make a comment about Hoseok having seen Taehyung when he was barely functioning and looking awful numerous times, but those comments are ignored.
It takes thirty minutes for them to finally leave the room (and if Jungkook hadn't already have arrived in front of their dorm, Taehyung would have taken twice the amount of time). Jungkook greets them, smiling widely at Taehyung before complaining that the first time he's meeting Hoseok it'll be when they're already dating. That brightens Taehyung's smile about 50 watts, then he envelops Jungkook in this tight hug. Jimin laughs because Jungkook looks very shocked even though he should be used to hyperactive Taehyung's large and bonecrushing hugs. The thing is, Taehyung then turns the hug to Jimin and he's definitely not used to it either.
The walk to the coffee shop should actually only be five minutes, but they stretch out the time by pointing things out to Jungkook. They have plenty of time to kill since Taehyung made them leave early to catch Hoseok before the show. Like, they enter the coffee shop ten minutes early and Taehyung walks straight towards Hoseok. Or, he hugs Hoseok right in the middle of his conversation with Namjoon, but Hoseok seems to happy to care. Namjoon blinks and stares at them.
Jimin sighs, "He's so annoying." When he doesn't get a sound of agreement, he turns to Jungkook to see him spaced out in Taehyung's direction. He sighs again, then pushes at Jungkook to bring him out of his head and motions for them to follow. Jungkook only blinks, making Jimin have to grab his arm and pull him along. This shouldn't be so hard. Jungkook's cautious around new people, but he's not as awful as Taehyung. Plus, Namjoon and Hoseok are the best people to start with. Not like it's Yoongi since he's no where to be found. (Jimin might have looked over the entire place. Twice).
"Are you ready, hyung?" Jimin greets. Namjoon's still staring in Hoseok and Taehyung's direction when Jimin speaks, but he might be looking at the stage behind them. It's not that different from usual except maybe two dozen seats are sprinkled around it and some tables are moved closer to it. There's also four mics on the stage: one for Hoseok, Namjoon, Hyosang, and Yoongi. It looks like the set up they always use for those coffee shop performances in movies and television shows.
Namjoon shurgs, "Well, I was going over some changes with Hoseok before an alien abducted him." When he turns to them, his reaction goes like this: smile at Jimin, furrowed eyes at Jungkook, more furrowed eyes at Jungkook, intense staring at Jungkook.
"Um." Jimin says, but Namjoon's still staring. And studying him. And generally being very weird. "This is my friend. Jungkook. He's coming here next year." He glances over at Jungkook to see how he's taking it, expecting him to be weirded out. Instead, his face is slightly pink and he looks like he's trying to let his coat swallow him up.
"Oh?" Namjoon stares for about five more seconds, then he grins. "Oh! No, now I remember. Jeon Jungkook?" Jungkook nods, really fast.
It’s weird to see Jungkook looking so flustered and a lot weirder that Namjoon knows who he is. Jimin looks back and forth between him, not quite able to figure it out, but before he can say anything, Taehyung brings Hoseok over and introduces him to Jungkook. And Hoseok does Hoseok and jokes with Jungkook, calls him Kookie, makes him smile. In those few minutes, Jungkook is set at ease like that exchange with Namjoon didn’t happen, he even laughs. It’s like he’s already been fitted into their group because that’s what Hoseok does, makes you feel welcome and relax. That lasts until they have to go and Namjoon says "Bye, Kookie" right after Hoseok says the same exact thing. But Hoseok saying it doesn't make Jungkook give this small shy smile that Jimin didn't know was a face Jungkook could make.
"Kookie." Jimin repeats as they follow Taehyung to take a seat right in the middle of the few chairs that were placed around the stage.
"Shut up." Jungkook glares as he takes off his jacket. Then, when Jimin laughs, he hits him with it before placing it on his chair.
A few people, like three, were already seated in the chairs when they sat down, but the twenty some chairs fill up completely in the five minutes that they wait. Actually, there's even people standing in the back and all the tables have someone seated at them, for the coffee or for the show. It's almost as crowded as it was during midterm season. Jungkook even leans over and asks if this is a normal thing and all Jimin can do is shrug his shoulders since this is his first time seeing a whatever this is at the coffee. He was expecting a few people: friends, friends of friends, and maybe a few random people, but it's starting to seem like a mini concert. Especially with the way some girls behind them are talking about handsome Hyosang oppa and isn't Yoongi oppa so cute? (Jimin snickers softly because Yoongi would hate that).
Seokjin comes right before it's supposed to start, Hyosang following behind him. They talk for a second before Hyosang rushes to the back to wherever the other three are. Seokjin spots them and comes to sit next to them in the seat Taehyung had luckily saved him.
“It’ll be like ten more minutes because Hyosang had to change a track to perfection or something else like that,” Seokjin sighs as he sits down.
“Uh, hyung,” Jimin says as Seokjin pulls off his jacket, bringing back his attention, “Is it usually like this?”
“Well, yeah. They built up a fanbase, Hyosang definitely did from his almost music career and such. Hoseok and Namjoon are new, but Yoongi’s gotten his name out there too. Doesn’t compare to Hyosang though, since he’s a well known senior in the music department with a bunch of fangirls.” Seokjin throws some venom at the end, but he doesn’t look annoyed, just shrugs at them. He doesn’t notice Jungkook until then, but everyone’s starting to clap as the four come on stage. They introduce themselves, some yell (Taehyung and Seokjin included), and Namjoon and Hyosang give a brief background on what they are, what their music is. Yoongi interrupts, says they should probably get to the actual music, and Hyosang nods and tells someone to start the track.
All of them taking the mics off the stands and get in a line as this slow and mellow beat trickles in through the shop’s speakers. It's not sad or anything, just laid back and a nice steady beat that makes you tap your feet. The song’s about how each of them got into music, but, as Jimin listens to the lyrics, it's personal and each person's verse is so particular to them. It’s not incredibly deep or anything: Namjoon struggled to keep doing music, Hoseok adapted to Seoul life, Hyosang almost was an idol, Yoongi missed opportunities in the music world. It’s the way they rap it, expressing their feelings through lyrics that sound heartfelt at least. It ends with someone singing about this is just the way life is and the way they have to live, while the four stand there. They stay like that as everyone claps for them, then the mellow mood is broken when Hoseok looks up with a grin.
Their next song, Hyosang introduces, is “College Woes” which Namjoon calls out as a god awful title. They bicker for a bit, good-naturedly, making everyone laugh and set the stage up for something more fun. They definitely are charismatic. They’re able to bring the crowd in and shape how they should feel as the next song is upbeat. It's talking about the college life in general and poking fun. A song that the crowd emphasizes with and makes them smile. A few people sort of dance in their chairs, including Taehyung, who bumps into Jimin’s shoulder, and when they hit the chorus the second time people stand up and sing along. The end of the song brings in loud, excited cheers from everyone. Jimin shouts out and pinches Jungkook until he gives in and does too. His smile during Namjoon’s rap wasn’t as subtle as he wanted it to be.
The music turns on before the four say anything, Hoseok says how this is “sadly and unfortunately” (Hyosang and Yoongi fake cry in the back together) their last song. It was slow at first, but it kicks off into a faster beat as Hyosang starts off. He talks about love being this magical adventurous thing, but in better and more lyrical words. At one point he shouts out a "you" pointing directly at Seokjin, who laughs and does a heart with his hands. It brings the mood up even more, makes everyone laugh. Namjoon's next, rapping about past love, the feelings and emotions and about how it was such a roller coaster. But, he ends with it being another great experience and hoping the person does well in life.
The beat turns slower as Yoongi starts, this time focusing on current love. The way you smile makes me feel like my insides are twisting, your eyes curving and making me want to hold you in my arms. All this sentimental shit, as Yoongi would call it, but he's the one saying it to the crowd. He’s walking back and forth amongst the other three and joking around with them as they act out his lines. Then, he looks back at the crowd, smiling, eyes scanning and Jimin's watching the crinkles around his mouth, his grip around the mic and every little detail, until he actually catches Yoongi's gaze. Yoongi's looking right at him and it's amazingly stupid how much it shakes him. In some unreasonable way, it makes him believe the song about him, even if Yoongi moves on to staring back somewhere else, Jimin swears he looked right at him. It's probably exactly how fans of artists feel when they meet eyes, that for one second they had a connection and, Jesus, is Jimin so enamored that he's acting like a fan. He's not even paying attention to Hoseok's rap, he's too much in his own head thinking about Yoongi and his rap and his stare and what did that mean. Only when Jungkook pushes at him and motions toward Taehyung, smirking, does Jimin get dragged back to reality. He manages to catch the end of it. Hoseok saying how he's glad to have met you, glad to have seen your smile, glad that you would considering dating him. The way he can feel Taehyung radiating with happiness and grinning, even if his face is very red, takes Jimin's mind away from Yoongi. Though he knows, if Hoseok actually had done it, singled out Taehyung to give his confession, Taehyung probably would have melted into the floor.
They end with each of them rapping a line, exactly in the order they did their verses. They get a lot of cheers for that one, the crowd hollering and shouting their names. It feels like a real concert, with the four bowing and Namjoon saying some words about how he’s happy everyone came and they’ll definitely keep everyone updated on when and where they perform again. Then, they get off stage and head to the back again. The crowd’s still cheering, though it’s greatly dying down as people start to get ready to leave. Jimin follows suit, but then he’s poked by Seokjin who points in the same direction that the others went.
He leads them past the registers and actual coffee making area to this door in the back which Jimin had always thought was the the supply closet. It’s not. It’s more of a nicely decorated storage room filled with a bunch of music oriented random stuff: mics, a drumset, wires, speakers, and the like. The four are in the back, talking animatedly until Hoseok sees them and waves, smiling wide.
“Did you like it?” He asks and, although it’s supposedly asked to all of them, he’s only looking at Taehyung, who nods his head.
“You were really good,” Taehyung grins. Hoseok’s smile sort of twists more into shy and his cheeks tinge pink, but he ruffles at Taehyung’s hair and brings him into a hug, before giving a small 'thanks.'
“You were all good,” Seokjin adds. Hyosang attempts to ruffle his hair, but Seokjin slaps his hand away, rolling his eyes at Hyosang’s pout. It has Jimin laugh, missing the fact that Yoongi’s right next to him until he puts his arms around Jimin’s shoulders and draws him closer.
“Good enough for you to buy us dinner?” Yoongi grins, then turns it to Jimin. “Aren’t you hungry?” He doesn’t understand why his face heats up, why Yoongi’s arm around his neck feels so much hotter than usual. It shouldn’t be this bad.
"And who is this," Hyosang says, looking at Jungkook. Lucky because Jimin couldn't even answer Yoongi back.
“He’s a friend from high school,” Taehyung says.
Hyosang gives him a once-over before smiling, “So, you’re thinking of coming here?”
“Yeah.” Jungkook replies. He’s awful at being the center of attention, ten times more when he’s being stared at by someone he really respects. Or really likes.
“You should come one day and we could show you around,” Namjoon suggests. Or when they talk to him, shown by the way Jungkook just simply nods.
“We said that,” Taehyung looks to Jimin, “but he’s too lazy-”
“I’m not,” Jungkook glares.
“Well, we can start today by showing you the dining hall.” Seokjin says, glancing at Yoongi.
“That’s not fair.” Yoongi frowns.
“The dining hall’s not even open,” Jimin mumbles and Yoongi smiles at him again and his stomach feels all twisted. He even ignores the glare Seokjin shots him.
“Yeah, c’mon hyung,” Yoongi says, finally letting Jimin go. “We could go to that meat place up the street.”
“I heard it’s really good actually.” Hoseok adds, then grins when Seokjin stares at him. There’s about five seconds until Seokjin sighs and relents, them cheering.
Seokjin looks at Hyosang, “What are you cheering for, you’re paying half.”
And Hyosang whines loudly, follows Seokjin out the door complaining that this isn’t fair and doesn’t Seokjin want to pay for him, didn’t he do well enough that he doesn’t have to pay this time.
---
Even though Jimin had been actively trying to get Taehyung and Hoseok together for the longest time, he had always secretly feared how it would be. If somehow the group would change because two people were dating. Or that they might keep to themselves all the time. There was also a slight worry that Taehyung would rarely spend time with Jimin anymore.
They're all unfounded. Everything is exactly the same except sometimes Hoseok and Taehyung hold hands or act way too in love for them to handle. Yoongi yells at them and Namjoon sticks out his tongue in disgust whenever Hoseok calls Taehyung adorable and kisses his cheek. While, to Jimin, it's nice. Sort of. Though, they tend to overdo it. And it's not at all because sometimes, maybe, Jimin's eyes flicker over to Yoongi and he wonders about them. If Yoongi would be like that. Then, Yoongi throws a book at Hoseok when he's staring at Taehyung too long and Jimin gets his answer multiple times over.
"They're so gross," Yoongi retches as he falls back to walk with Jimin so he doesn't have to be next to Taehyung and Hoseok holding hands and laughing. "Their should have been a group decision about whether they were allowed to date or not. It's too much happy in one place."
"C'mon hyung. It's cute." Jimin's watching the way Taehyung smiles and how Hoseok talks so animatedly and it comes out his mouth before he could think.
Yoongi sighs, "Do you want that in a relationship? Are you going to be the lovey dovey hold hands all the time, "no i love you more" type because I can't deal with that."
Jimin blinks, "Why would you have to deal with it?"
It's strange how Yoongi kind of freezes while walking, but he does it. He also glares at Jimin and pushes his head backwards. "Because." Jimin has to take a second to re-orientate himself, but by the time he's going to ask Yoongi to explain, Yoongi's already caught up to Taehyung and Hoseok.
However.
It takes one minute for Yoongi to fall back again and lament about how he's never ever ever staying in a room with those two alone.
---
This is maybe the fourth time Jimin's been in the photography room and, again, it's because of Yoongi. He had gotten a text saying that Yoongi had gotten his movement project back and Jimin should come and look because he's not allowed to take it until the end of the semester. When Jimin arrived, he kind of expected Hoseok to at least be there since he was a part of it too, but Yoongi's sitting on a desk, alone. He smiles when he sees Jimin, then pats the desk next to him.
Jimin acts like it doesn't make his heart flutter when Yoongi scoots closer to show off the binder. The pictures are all good. Well, they had to be for Yoongi to get an A, but Jimin personally thinks they're nice. Or he thinks he does because Yoongi's kind of pressed flushed against him and speaking so close to him and Jimin's not really concentrating. That is until Yoongi pushes at him with his shoulder.
"What?" Jimin asks.
"I said what do you think." When Jimin stares at him, Yoongi holds up the binder.
"Oh, uh. They're really good." Jimin says, then tries to think of something of more substance because Yoongi's looking at him annoyed. "Page three was really great."
Yoongi rolls his eyes, but flips back to it. "Is that because it's all you." He sighs, then hits Jimin as he grins.
"No, actually. You took them well. Like, usually people would get it blurry especially because dancing is so fast, but this is good." This time Yoongi offers him a genuine smile. "They're some of the best pictures I've seen from you." Really, Jimin doesn't know if that's true, but Yoongi is grinning wide and it's so nice.
"Well, they're okay," Yoongi shrugs, then glances over with a smile before placing that binder down and reaching into his backpack next to him. He brings out a huge binder that says "photography" on the top then flips to the back where there's one picture in the clear sleeve. It's of Jimin. Not one of him doing anything, really, but he remembers it. He was staring off into space and Yoongi had taken it without warning him at all.
"This is one of my favorite pictures actually." Yoongi is mumbling as he takes it out and hands it to Jimin.
"Huh? Why?" It's really rather plain. There's nothing going on in the background, no added effect, he's not even smiling that wide. "I don't know, hyung. I really liked that one of Hoseok-hyung doing the flip."
Yoongi huffs, "No. I like this one. It's-" He pauses, "I keep it in the back of here so I know where it is. I never mess with this binder so it'll always be safe."
"My picture?" Jimin grins and holds the photo up high.
"Shut up. It's a good photo." Yoongi snatches it away and Jimin laughs as he places it right back into the sleeve.
"Whatever, hyung," Jimin says. He doesn't really understands what qualifies as a good photo. His best guess would be something unique and eye catching, but that's not what that photo is at all. It's Jimin existing. "You could have at least picked the one of me dancing or something. Oh, the one of me flipping over Hoseok! Or-"
Yoongi sighs loudly. "No I don't-you're an idiot. It's not a good photo like skill wise. It's-I-Shit." He runs a hand through his hair and sighs again. "It's my favorite photo, okay. I like it best."
Jimin blinks, then things start to clear in his head. He starts to connect the dots and his stomach is getting jittery as he starts to hope. "Why?" And the way Yoongi glances at him is like he's about to give up in frustration, but his cheeks are slightly tinged pink and that hope grows.
"Because it's you. No posing or acting or theme needed. It's just you being you and-" Yoongi fidgets with the binder, "I like you. Okay? Fuck. Why are you so slow?" And he continues mumbling on to himself while Jimin grins in his direction. When Yoongi looks over, he glares and flicks at Jimin's forehead.
"You can't say a single damn thing," Yoongi says, then rolls his eyes when Jimin's still grinning. "You've been hooked on me since-"
"What?" It comes out as more loud and shriek like than he meant and he coughs to cover it up. Not like it matters because Yoongi is still laughing at him. "I'm not-you-." He's sputtering, really not knowing how to reply at all.
Yoongi smiles and pinches Jimin's cheek, "Okay. But you like me and-" Jimin is about to deny it like it's not true but Yoongi pulls harder on his cheek and it comes out unintelligble. "I'm not Hoseok, alright? I'm not an oblivious idiot. Just admit it."
Jimin's cheeks feel extremely hot, like he doesn't understand how Yoongi's still holding on. "Shut up." And Yoongi laughs again, but lets go to pat at Jimin's head. Jimin sighs. "I like you." He mumbles. "Hyung."
The way Yoongi's face lights up is really nice, even if he tries to play it off by smirking at him. It makes him grin too and he doesn't really realize it when Yoongi moves forward, but then their lips meet and- This is nice too. Yoongi's lips are a lot softer than he thought (and maybe he's actually thought about this a lot), but when Jimin goes to move closer, deepen the kiss, Yoongi’s already pulling back. It was so quick, just a peck on the lips. And Yoongi is grinning at him, not in a happy, satisfied, I kissed you way, but challenging and cocky.
"Hyung," Jimin whines.
"What Jimin-ie?" Yoongi taunts.
(And maybe Jimin "pounces" on him, as Yoongi describes later to Hoseok, who wanted a full description because he's too nosy and Yoongi's too willing. But, Yoongi really wasn't opposed.)
---
They finally manage to take Jungkook to a dance practice since he had always been interested and it has nothing to do with Namjoon even if he refuses to meet eyes when Taehyung teases him. Yukwon's okay with it, especially since today they're going away from the previous dance practices to give them a little fun. Instead, they play a lot of popular songs and have people dance. Sort of like the freestyle day, but you don't have to do it if you don't want to. That basically translates to Hoseok pushing all of them to do it, even Namjoon, who complains loudly until "Hush" comes on and Taehyung drags him and Jungkook up to dance it.
"See, that wasn't horrible," Hoseok says when they come back as the song switches to something Super Junior. Jimin, Hoseok, and Yoongi were all sitting on the floor watching. Or well, Yoongi was leaning against Jimin's shoulder because he stayed up writing an essay or something and is tired. The look he gave Jimin was like he was daring him to call him out on the lie.
"Definitely because of Jungkook and Taehyung," Yoongi adds.
Namjoon kicks at his leg, making him open his eyes to glare. "You're talking?"
"Excuse me? I'm amazing, right Jimin?" And Yoongi curls up closer, hand patting his thigh and aiming a smile up at him.
"Well," Jimin starts, laughing when Yoongi growls and pokes him hard in the stomach.
"I'm at least better than Namjoon." He says, going back to closing his eyes, but Hoseok stands up, grinning.
"Why don't we test that?" And it's right on cue that the song changes to Taeyang's "Ringa Linga" that both Namjoon and Yoongi like. Namjoon groans loudly when Hoseok pushes him to the center, then Hoseok physically pulls Yoongi up and drags him out there. "You guys will be voting." Hoseok calls back to them and Jungkook and Taehyung shrug, before sitting down next to Jimin to watch.
"This isn't going to be far," Jungkook says. "Jimin's going to vote for Yoongi-hyung."
Jimin grins over at him, "And you'll vote for Namjoon-hyung, right?"
"No, not necessarily," Jungkook replies way too quickly.
"Oh?" Taehyung smiles, "Well, me and Jimin were planning to get you together. Does this mean we can stop now?" Jungkook's silent for a bit, then mumbles something they can't understand.
"I mean, I got Taehyung and Hoseok-hyung together so." Jimin glances at Jungkook, then sighs, "If you don't want me to help-"
"I don't think he does," Taehyung shakes his head, "Like we could always ask him to be your English tutor, but if you don't want him to." They both look between them, Jungkook is staring directly at Namjoon, blushing and seeming to actually be considering the options. It makes Jimin laugh, then Taehyung follows shortly after, laughing harder when Jungkook pushes at both of them and complains about how he wishes he's never met them.
"Are you even paying attention," Yoongi yells at them. "Am I doing this for nothing?"
"Yoongi's only willing to use his energy for a slight few things guys," Hoseok grins, then dodges the punch Yoongi aimed at his arm.
When they come back, it ends up exactly how they thought it would. Taehyung's the deciding vote and Yoongi ends up winning, but Namjoon doesn't seem to actually care. He just ends up hugging Jungkook and calling him his favorite dongsaeng in the world.
