It's enough.

It's more than enough, really. I'm finished playing nice princess.

I wish I could say I didn't regret this. I mean, I mostly don't. I'll certainly enjoy it. But I usually prefer subtlety. It's just too bad that hasn't worked here so far ( Read more... )

[Gardens... bah. It's only coincidence that he was there in the beginning, and well, one could say that he was probably at the wrong place at the wrong time. But man, he's curious. Who could be that pissed enough to set flowers on fire? Weren't flowers supposed to be nice?

And once he gets to the source of the fire, he stops. All ninja-like, narrowing his eyes.]

You've got to be kidding me.

[And it's only by chance that Azula even sees Shikamaru; she's turning to send another bolt of flame in the direction of one last rosebush.]

Hmm...?

[A couple of months ago he might have ignored Azula just because it's troublesome to get involved, but this is now and Shikamaru's a nosy being. Instead, he furrows his brows and mutters something to the extent of, 'I knew it, all women are crazy,' before closing in on a couple of steps towards Azula, hand resting in his side pouch. Peaceful resolution pls; less work that way.]

Hey-stop that!

[Lucky him, she doesn't even attack! Yet.]

No. You're welcome to watch, but if you're smart you won't try any harder to stop me.

[Luckily for her, he feels at least some semblance of motivation! To not do anything yet. But he does draw out a kunai, spinning it around his finger as he manages a long, drawn out sigh.]

No, really. Stop. This is nothing short of a tantrum.

Tantrums aren't this much fun. Are you going to try throwing that or not?

You're not going to stop setting things on fire, are you.

What a drag.

[Rubbing the back of his neck, he eventually tosses his kunai towards the fountain, a good couple of feet away from where Azula is currently; a small strip of paper is inconspicuously wrapped around the handle.

He makes a couple of hand seals from where he is and crouches down, allowing for a lot of shadows go after her from all different directions; all he needs is one hit and some time to succeed, yeah?]

A drag? If you think so, that's your loss.

[But she frowns as he...does something she doesn't understand. At all. But he seems to know what he's doing, which means that whatever it is, it might be dangerous to her.

Simple solution: throw lightning at him.]

[He's always been one of the quickest in his group of ninja friends; it comes hand in hand with being the best at running away.

Breaking off his hand seal, he jumps a good distance away from the lightning before resuming, letting his shadows break off into several whip-like tendrils, going after her. So maybe he's a one-trick pony. It's never bothered him before.]

[Unfortunately for him, Azula loves the thrill of the chase.

And while she hadn't seen the way the shadows moved at his command before--she merely knew he was doing something--now she notices it.]

Shadowbending...?

[It certainly looks harmless to a mind trained on elemental magic, but Azula isn't stupid enough to assume that it is. She gestures, and a too-bright ring of flame roars up around Shikamaru.

Rather than waste her energy keeping it up, though--fire isn't exactly a useful long-term way of dispelling shadow, anyway--she immediately lets it fall and follows it up with three bolts of blue fire, intending to hit Shikamaru while he's disoriented and trying to put his shadows back together.]

okay so i was tired last night :| plsgtfo February 26 2009, 06:23:51 UTC
[Whatever it is that Azula is saying, Shikamaru doesn't hear it; rather, he's a little preoccupied trying to keep track of everything here and there, and his concentration shows in the way that he's able to quickly move away from the forming ring of fire, just as Azula follows that up with a lightening-fire... WHAT IS THAT elemental attack.

It's why he keeps his pace quick, never staying at one place for too long. He's too used to people trying to disorient him back at home; why let it bother him now?

Once he gets the chance to settle down for a second's (or two's) worth, he reassumes his seal and lets one shadow pick up that kunai he threw earlier and throw it at her direction-

-flash bomb!]
