First of all, if I don't talk to you before then, have an awesome trip! I'm sure it will be all kinds of wonderful!

Second, throwing lessons plans together doesn't make you a bad literacy volunteer--it just makes you that much more of a real teacher. :)

And thank you very much for posting the link about literacy volunteer. Considering the experience I already have, and the fact that I miss teaching reading A LOT, being a literacy volunteer might do me a lot of good. Except for the fact that I work nights. But anyway. I found a local chapter and downloaded their application, so I thought you might want to know that you're spreading all the good works! :)

*smooch* Have a lovely trip! Don't forget to tell us all about it. :)

Oh, that is so fantastic! Yay! I know you will be so fantastic at it and also, when I was being trained, I remember hearing that a lot of the people who need literacy help work irregular hours (often nights) and that availability during the day is really good.

Let me know how it goes!

And thanks for the good trip wishes, too. :)

I have spent the last two months cursing myself for giving in to Library Euphoria, the malady I fall victim to when I realize that the nice people at the desk will let me just walk out of the building with ANY BOOK I WANT for FREE (plus any late fines that have accrued since our last visit).

AHAHAHAHA! Oh! I won't even begin to explain my many horrible sins in this regard (it is far too embarrassing); I finally just had to acknowledge that libraries cannot be for me EVER because apparently I cannot give things back. At all!

ME EITHER! Yesterday the librarian said she was surprised I didn't fall over when I heard the fines. Clearly she did not check my record!
