'Ann, what's up?' Andy says, and it's not what he says but how he says it. The tone of his voice, the set of his shoulders - all of it radiates the same disappointed wariness Ann felt every time he showed up unexpectedly after their breakup. )

Oh, man. I don't even 'ship these two that much (sometimes I have issues with best friends not being allowed to be just best friends without ~subtext, which is a little silly of me) but things about their friendship genuinely get to me, and those things are what you highlighted and built on in this, and I absolutely adored that.

This is a fantastic story - Ann's voice is spot-on, perfect for the kind of changes in mindset she must be going through - all the character voices are perfect, even that one scene with Tom. And above everything, you nailed Leslie. Her enthusiasm and her brilliance at her job and her sweetness - all of those things are the reasons I adore her, and the focus on that made it obvious that Ann would adore her, too. I love Ann helping her out in tiny ways but also clearly getting something from spending time with her.

And oh my god, that last line. ♥ Seriously, this was sweet, funny, and beautifully character-driven, and that along with your great writing style made me miss the show just a little less. Thank you so much for writing this!

Oh wow, thank you so much for this lovely comment! It was so great to read what you wrote about Leslie, because how you describe her is exactly how I see her, and how I wanted her to come across in the story - yay! And I'm glad their relationship in the story worked for you - it's funny, I was like you in that I initially didn't really ship them, and saw them as a sweet friendship (which I agree is too rarely seen on TV, especially between women), and then I saw this vid and it was like a switch got flipped in my brain, and I found myself writing this story!

Thank you again for all of your kind words and for taking the time to comment - I really appreciate it!
