Gorram, too many people to do things for, not enough time to get them done, logical organization that only exists in legend, and people giving me stern lectures about my screw-ups because of this.

If you feel you're not getting paid enough to put up with their bullshit, quit. My job is quite the oppasite of yours, in almost every sense. I come in probably 30 minutes late, and it doesn't matter. Then I have about 2 hours of actual work (web programming) to do that day, on projects that I do at my own pace. Most of my time now is spent waiting for idiot server admins to set things up according to their statements of work. In the rest of the day, I browse the interwebs, talk to friends, and take an hour or more for lunch -- the whole time getting paid my 39/hr. The funny part is the fact that most of the people who work around me do less, and the kicker, get paid more.

Actually, that is my job most of the time. However, lately we have had a bunch of new machines coming into the lab that will be used for Vista testing, and I am the one who has to set them up on top of the rest of my work. As a result, my job is more stressful than usual at the moment.

However, the odd crunch period aside, my job is way too cushy to quit.

So why not use the time it took to write about having a lack of time at work, or the time it took to find out how many degrees of separation there are between you and bill gates, and do actual work? It doesn't seem like you can prioritize your day well if you think livejournal is more important than possibly getting canned.

Your job does remind me that developers at microsoft are lucky. They get a legion of minions who have a legion of their own hardware supports minions to test their code for them. Sounds like a shit job to me, go back to school and get a degree.

Just because my job was more stressful than usual earlier this week does not mean that all my time was taken up. Even then, there are short lulls, such as when I need to let something install before I can proceed, or I have to wait on someone else's reply, or I get to take lunch. It is during those brief times that I make an update. I never said that I had no time, just that it was stressful.

Actually, I find this job rather pleasant most of the time. I actually get to work with stuff that I like and no longer have to deal with the general public. Sure, I plan on going back to school and getting a degree, but that will be in maybe another year or two.

However, if you expect me to take your advice as credible, then you must understand that I need to know who you are. If you have no LJ account from which to post comments, then you could at least politely sign your name when you comment in someones journal.

Going back to school and getting a degree in a year or two? Is that like where in a movie a hooker says she's doing what she's doing until she gets in to medical school? Lets have reality sink in for a moment here. Unless you're saving up a hill of beans to pay for school, you're not actually expecting to go at any point. At any real school for what I expect you to major in, computer science, you'll need probably 3 years past your current education. 3 years of living expenses plus school. Lets take what I paid for my schooling, although prices have gone up in the mean time. $1000 rent, $1000 food, $2500 tuition, $150 books, $500 shit happens money, per quarter. This doesn't include living during breaks, car payments, etc, but I know you don't have a car and can probably justify living at a school dorm all year or with parents on holiday. So take 4150 a quarter, multiply by 9, you come to 37350, multiply by 1.09 because taxes are always going up, and you arrive at just above 40k. This doesn't account for increased living

Money is not everything to me, and I did not take this job just to get as much of it as possible. Do you think that I have not taken the expense of education into consideration? And why do you continue to spend the effort of badgering me when I have already declared that my intentions fall along the lines of what you were suggesting? Further, who do you think that you are to talk down to me? God? More like a fluffy bunny if your manner is any indication.

So you took in to consideration that it costs a good chunk of change to go to school, yet you move in to a place that provides no return on investment and work a job with little promise of promotion. Bravo. You have shown that you are ignorant. As for your intentions falling along the lines of my suggestions; those lines are pretty damn thin, and your falling is pretty damn far away. Thinking about planning to go back to school is not going back to school. What you're doing is the lazy man's way of getting something accomplished, which, infact, is getting nothing accomplished. Anyway, I digress
