doesn't it make you feel better?
Just got NIN/Downward Spiral. It was a long time coming; should have come sooner.
For years, every time I went out to buy cds, I went through this ritual of checking the slots for all of my top bands: Smashing Pumpkins, Cure, Switchblade Symphony, Garbage, NIN, etc. and every time I got to NIN, I *almost* picked DS or pretty hate machine. But then, I would remember there was a new band that I hadn't heard much of, and should probably check out instead; I already knew the NIN sound, so I should explore more. I'll get this one later. Later, turned out, came 11 years later.
Now I wish I had this CD my sophomore year HS. I could have really used this rage. Could have made me angrier and more outspoken. Now, it takes me a while to get angry. I don't do it often enough, and need more of a jump-start than this album can now provide. Still think its pretty though. Its hot to finally hear Trent say "fuck" in Closer (radio version-virgin). Its different than I imagined. More intimately dismissive than hate-filled.
