abstinence?... why?

All I'm saying is that my faith has dwindled because we live in a gluttonous society filled with people who use fornication for other reasons rather than reproduction. Yes. Lust (prior to commitment) is one of the 7 deadly sins. Yes. Gluttony is one of the 7 deadly sins. My question is: If God is so omnipotent and created us in the same light, how ( Read more... )

Ah, you mean why doesn't God strip you of your free will so you don't have a choice. I dunno. I know I don't buy into this "We just can't help ourselves" stuff. I mean, Megan, you know me, and I've failed at this many of times and am a pretty lousy human being quite often, but I still know what is right and wrong, and I see people that are able to remain stedfast and can make the choice of doing the right thing over their own destructive desires. You don't have to read my big comment in this post if you don't want too, because I know how much this religous talk can divide all of us, but if we accept the fact that we have our own free will to choose right and wrong, and what we want, then you can't blame God for not twisting our arms and making us choose right, because then we didn't really choose at all. Just like you can't blame God for the way people live their lives in a destructive fashion, when they choose to live in a Godless vacuum. If you live your life not acknowleding God at all, then what are you really asking for yourself? It's not God making your life harder, it's you making it harder on yourself. It's not God punishing you for you not doing things His way, it's you playing out the natural cause and effect of making wrong choices. But then we could get into the whole thing about people that claim to have faith and are total scumbag dickfaces. But that's a whole-nother ball of wax.

Then, my darling dear, we disagree. Though if I were you, I wouldn't find much comfort in the love of others, or use the word love, or even beleive you are in love, because nobody has a choice to love you or you to love others. They're just mindless robots programmed to give you a response which you are programmed to respond to in a certain way, in which I was programmed to write this response. And all without choice. So love is completely meaningless.
