So. Many. Words...

On page 732 of Les Miserables. Halfway done. o.o

I did set myself up for this by reading this book, but I'm really enjoying it so far. Also, going at it much quicker than the Count of Monte Christo. Honestly, I like Hugo as a writer a great deal more than Dumas ((Though I will go back and read Three Musketeers someday! I will!)).

After this, my next big goal is War and Peace. >.>

Also, I found this quote about convents a little too amusing ((Hugo was not a fan)):

The persistence of superannuated institutions in striving to perpetuate themselves is like the obstinacy of a rancid perfume clinging to the hair, to the pretension of spoiled fish that insists on being eaten, the tenacious folly of a child's garment trying to cloths a man, or the tenderness of a corpse returning to embrace the living.

"Ungrateful!" exclaims the garment. "I shielded you in weakness. Why do you reject me now?" "I come from the depths of the sea," says the fish. "I was once a rose," cries the perfume. "I loved you," murmurs the corpse. "I civilized you," says the convent.

To which there is only one reply: "That was long ago."
Bitchy comment much Hugo?
