So, I just got a pair of elbow knitted fingerless gloves from vital_signs1719  --and they're dark red. I am deeply, deeply in love with these things as of right now. <3

Went on a massive book buying splurge yesterday--supported in part by getting over $40 of credit. Holy crap did I get a lot of books--a fair amount textbooks to be true, but still. Picked up the ( Read more... )

Good! :D Hahaha, it's a really complicated pattern (I would never have thought of something like that), and I know all about the need to figure out an interesting pattern by sight! I won't have access to the pattern again until September, probably, but I'd be happy to send a copy to your friend then if she's still interested.

Sounds interesting, although Medieval Islamic Societies sounds a bit terrifying. I took that scary class on Islamic history 500-1500 last quarter (and barely scraped a B without understanding anything of the last half of the class); I stopped by the "Islamic World" room in the British Museum in morbid curiosity as to how much I remembered. I was like, yeah, the Abbasids...the Fatimids, the Mamluks, the Seljuks...I remember these names, but don't have a clue what they were doing...gah. Fail class.

I knooooww...I'm really wishing I had a car. The bus trip was fantastic though. There were only 2 bus options to get to Edinburgh from London, one that left at 9am and the other that left at like, midnight. I'm so glad I was smart enough to get the day one in hopes I could do a lot of sightseeing along the way, because it did NOT disappoint!!

Ahahaha, I'll let her know. She was a little distressed when I said I didn't have it. XD

Ahhhh yeah. I have a fairly solid background on Middle East, so I'm hoping this will work out decently enough. I get to present a panel on Nomads. XD I'm excited.

Ah yeah, totally. We took a train from Edinburgh to York, and then from York to London and those were both pretty awesome rides. A bus might have been even better--I remember driving around Ireland was pretty great. But yeah, I hope you're enjoying Edinburgh I love that city so damn much.
