Well, tonight was a new and interesting experience in many, many ways.
So, my dear friend (Also known affectionately as my Austria... Especially since we have the first same name, are the same age, and look very similar) won this contest for two free tickets and a dinner voucher. Like, the contest was Northwest Luxury or something of the sort, so very fancy stuff. She invites me along which is wonderful, especially since I love theater, and dance, and this was a dance show at my favorite theater.
So, first off, the dinner is for the Space Needle restaurant, at the top, on a revolving platform.
I, of course, am rather deathly afraid of heights on most days.
On the way there though, we get turned around and go the wrong way. Which is fine on the wrong way, but when we realize and turn around, we're heading back towards the freeway... during rush hour so everyone is going that way. We're about ten minutes late by this point. And I still haven't faced the Seattle Space Needle.
But I make it up there (it helped that the elevator ride was seriously only 41 seconds to get up really freaking high) and once up, handled it rather well. Our poor waiter though, he kept showing us the wine list and all this stuff and we're sitting there going, "We're poor college students, and neither of us are really 21 yet. Sorry." Most of the people there are there for like anniversaries or weddings or whatever, so I kinda feel like we stand out a little (I also wonder how many people thought we were there on a date). One lady asked if we were sisters (Which is a common question when we're together).
The view is rather stunning, but of course by this point, we are still running late.
So, we panic over desert (Though it was amazing) and run back to the car. Though, we're both in heels, and the show has just started and we're not even there yet. And of course we get lost *again* on the way because the Space Needle Loop was not labeled. Lovely stuff this.
We run to the theater (still in heels) and make it in about 15 minutes late. They seat us anyway, and it helps that we're on the aisle so it's not like we're stepping over anyone. And, these are the best seats I have ever been in, and probably ever will be unless I marry a very, very rich man. I don't even want to know how much these seats normally cost.
The show itself is "Burn the Floor: Ballroom. Reinvented" and it is AMAZING. I love dance, I've always loved dance, but usually in dance shows, I tend to get a little bored without any plot, and sometimes in the last few shows I've been too, it hasn't been particularity amazing. (It helped that this show did not have plot though, since we were rather late).
THE MUSIC. THE DANCING. IT WAS AMAZING. I was just floored by all of it. And we were really close on the bottom (Row about L from A) and in the center part. They had a couple different sections, and my friend is really into Swing Dance, and a whole forth of the show was that, which was just great. Plus, there was this one Russian male dancer, who was shorter than the others, and he showed up for one dance in black and white, and he was just prancing around and I look over at her and go, "That's Mistoffeless." (We're both CATS fans, and she's been luring me into the fandom).
Also, the men wore... rather tight pants. And being dancers, they had rather fine asses. I promise I didn't drool too much. It certainly didn't help when they were dancing around without their shirts though. And some of them had tattoos. It worries me a little how sexy I've been finding tattoos lately. I used not to like them so much...
EDIT: Also, remember how we kept getting lost? And how she's my Austria? Yeah, there are reasons for this.
