He was trying to remember when he'd felt this good...and there was nothing.
Maybe when Ma first took him in, or maybe his first birthday at home. Graduating med school was close, bringing home his first straight A report card was near to it...no. There was nothing like tearing into the mouth of Las Vegas Boulevard on his Harley with Claire pressed warmly to his back, her arms around his waist as snug as she could manage. With the lights of the Strip glittering with the promise of untold riches and unimagined sorrow and an angel with her cheek pressed between his shoulderblades ready to say 'I do'...
Nothing could compare to the wind on his face and her intermittent squeals of delight carried off in the highway breeze.
They spent the better part of the ride arguing during their brief pit stops for food and rest. Mostly, she wanted whatever would piss him off...he could tell because she kissed him every time he started to glare at her.
They were still bickering casually by the time Cain slowly pulled to a stop in front of Caesar's Palace, balancing the bike there until Claire finally poked him in the ribs to make him stop staring at the hotel.
Turning back to look at her, he shrugged. "It's good and campy, and they got a nice chapel." Off her look, he scowled, earning himself yet another kiss.
"What? I hit the internet 'fore we left the house." he grumbled. "Just 'cause we're eloping don't mean we can't do it in fuckin' style..."
