This is a killer song. So is Hungry Heart (or whatever it's called) by Bruce Springsteen.
Ok, I haven't updated in a long time so this is going to be about the last TWO weeks (well, last weekend to now).
HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS
+ Maplewood Christmas Walk
The Christmas Walk is basically the nicest thing about Maplewood. It's like Gilmore Girls. Well, not really, but slightly. You go to the little trendy and cutesy shops and get cookies. And if you're me you don't know anyone, but it's still nice. I realized that Maplewood is an untapped resource (by me). Like, there is a bowling alley. Saratoga Lanes is like five minutes from my house, which is pretty awesome. It looks pretty awesome. It's on the second floor of some nondescript building. Also untapped in Maplewood is the pawn shop, that cafe that had yummy cider that one year, Maplewood Cafe, Boogaloo, and TIFFANY'S (can't believe Alex and I have never been there). I mean, Maplewood has gone a long way. Like, so I can't really call it Maplehood anymore (except in some parts it def is - like Church's Chicken and the shady video store). And this is slightly off topic, but I get pissed off when people think the Sievert house is nice and big because it just came that way and cost a lot of money or whatever - because my parents really put a lot of work into it and completely transformed it. And my dad is a total bargain hound and a large amount of our furniture came for hecka cheap, and a lot of it he has put a lot of work into renovating. I really do respect my parents for that.
Anyway, I also saw THE YOURTEES!
Ok, so I spent the majority of my childhood with The Manarys, The Hardcastles, Emma, and the Yourtees (sp?). I mean, I knew some other kids from co-op and church pretty well, but that was basically it. And Joy Yourtee and Alex and I used to "have school" together all the time. We went over to their house, they came to ours, we played, we learned, etc. TONS of memories.
So I saw all of them and it was CRAZY. I've seen them at the library before but not in a couple years (at least not all of them - though Paul wasn't there).
So Joy, who is Alex's age, is getting MARRIED. SKLDHFLKSH! WTF! Her husband-to-be is kinda weird (ghetto?) but he's pretty cute. CRAZY!!!! And I felt pretty uncomfortable because I thought she'd be really friendly but she was pretty distant. Nice, but distant. Becky and Dawn (sister, mom) were much more engaging. I really like them like, a lot. They're awesome.
+ going to a concert for the first time in awhile (w/ MaryAnn from NAN who is overly artistic, but nice)
- My grandparents being at my house for 3 nights because of the blackout.
- The blackout taking out my power Thursday night so I ended up reading John Donne poems by flashlight then sleeping until 2 pm because I had no alarm. NOT an exciting snow day at all.
- Having an awful sleep schedule the last few weeks, usually getting to bed around 2-4. Some days coming home and sleeping for 2-4 hours then doing homework.
- Totally bombing my HOA test, like, for reals. Mostly because I was hella tired.
- Being fed up with studying/working hellas and losing out.
+ Mr. Chambers being really cool about my HOA test (but we'll see about the grade).
+ Getting an 89 on my Economon paper and an 87 on my revision. Awesome.
- Last night, sleeping from 4:45 pm to 4:00 am. And I wasn't even that tired when I went to bed. What is one supposed to do at 4:00 in the morning??
- having to actually decide where I want to go to college this weekend (which has already been a verrrry long process), knowing that I will change my mind over break.
- being really behind on art, particulary RNB.
