Aaaargh this is not my best work, serves me right for procrastinating. :P

He'd thought that dream was a one-time thing, just a fluke. Eliwood was the one who'd thought it was a vision of the future, anyway. A little girl, a bearded man, a red-haired boy.

"Maybe you're psychic," Eliwood had joked, but only really smart people who studied a lot had even a snowball's chance of being psychic, right? Hector hated to study and he wasn't what most people would call "smart", at least that's what he thought. The dream had to be a fluke.

But the bearded man and the little girl started appearing more regularly, and every time his mind's eye would get a clearer view.

"Father, Father!"

"Lilina, my dear girl, you seem so happy."

"I got another letter from Roy!"

So that was the boy's name. Red hair, blue eyes...Eliwood's son? There were plenty of people with red hair, his friend had said, but this Roy bore such a striking resemblance to Eliwood it couldn't be anyone but his son.

If this was his future, at least it made sense that their children would be friends. But he remained skeptical nonetheless, psychic visions didn't happen to people like him. It was simply wishful thinking on his part; hadn't he always hoped his and Eliwood's children would carry on their tradition of friendship?

"It's just a coincidence," he told Eliwood every time they discussed his dreams. "I'm sure you've had dreams about the future as well."

"Some, yes," Eliwood said, "but none with details nearly as vivid as yours."

Sometimes Hector did indulge in a bit of speculation; Roy was obviously the son of Eliwood and Ninian, given how close those two were he wouldn't be surprised if his friend took her home to Pherae and married her when this was over. But Lilina...in his dreams she was shy and gentle like Florina, but her hair was blue and her face spirited like Farina's. Though she seemed to have an underlying stubborn streak like his own...Serra, perhaps? Lyn?

It was silly, he decided, wondering who the mother of his as of yet nonexistent child was when romance and marriage were the last things on his mind.

The night he recieved the legendary axe Armads, the dreams took a dark turn. You will not die in a comfortable bed, your life will instead be shortened on the battlefield, Durban's spirit had warned, and that night he dreamed of the boy and the girl, sobbing over a grave bearing his name.

"I'm all that's left of Ostia's noble line now, Roy."

Hector awoke the next morning feeling unsettled, and those closest to him noticed something was definitely off about him.

"I think perhaps you are psychic after all," Eliwood said, and this time Hector couldn't bring himself to brush off the suggestion. Whether his dreams were a clear premonition or simply a possible outcome, he could no longer ignore their meaning as he had before.

Twenty years later, he dies in the arms of Eliwood's son, Durban's words still ringing in his head up until he draws his last breath.

"Lilina..."

At least he won't have to see his beloved daughter sobbing at his grave.
