Title: Wolfsbane
Game: Fire Emblem 7: Blazing Sword
Challenge 004: Temper
Word Count: 508
Pairings/Characters: Lloyd, mentions of Linus, Brendan Reed, Sonia and Nino
Warnings: Language, some adult themes, and maybe a spoiler or two if you squint reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally hard.
Author’s Notes: I like the Black Fang (minus Sonia, but I still somewhat like her, to an extent, for reasons of my own). That is all.
In all seriousness, though, I originally had a completely different idea for this prompt. But then, a week or so ago, I began writing this in my math class and decided that it probably fit the prompt far better. So yes.

The White Wolf of the Black Fang is a man renowned for his patience and cunning. His name was well-given; war is nothing more than a hunt for him. He lies in wait, striking only when necessary, wearing down his prey and conserving his own energy until he attacks in a burst of power-a flash of gleaming metal, a shower of crimson rain.

his prey falls.

Like a wolf, those most noble of creatures, he does not kill indiscriminately. Neither does his brother, the one they have named Mad Dog. Together they dispense the Fang’s justice, following only the orders of their alpha-the man they call “Father”.

But their father is no longer the fearsome warrior he once had been. He is tame now, docile. He spends his days in the company of his bitch, the woman called Sonia, following her around like some lovesick pup.

It is humiliating to see his father degraded to such a level, to see the once-mighty Brendan Reed give in to his most base and carnal desires, even more so when he remembers his mother-his real mother, whom his father had loved even after illness took her all those years ago, had loved until the new woman came and put him under her spells with her black magicks and a body made for seduction.

There is something about Sonia that is not human. He knows this. He can see it in the way her unnatural golden eyes survey the world, as though it belongs to her and her alone, while she drapes herself across his father’s body like some overgrown and promiscuous housecat. He can see it in the way she smiles with only her painted lips, for she feels true mirth only when she causes someone pain. Her favorite victim is none other than her own child, and it is this fact that has convinced him that Brendan Reed’s second wife is not all she claims to be-for what mother would truly enjoy causing her own child pain?

He too has been her victim on numerous occasions, though only a handful of people know this. She knows that it hurts him when his father turns to her for advice on operating the Fang, and seems to take delicious pleasure in seeing his face remain expressionless though she knows-she fucking knows-that inside, he is burning with anger. He can see it in her haughty expression and the damned smirk she wears whenever she is around him.

To her, it is just a game. How long until the poor little pup gives in to his temper?

But he knows the answer.

So he continues to stalk his prey, though now it is not only a sense of duty that drives him-there is a fire in him now, one that had once been nothing more than a spark. It drives him, towards vengeance and honor and the smiling face of a young girl who will, for the first time, taste true happiness.

Even if it will kill him.

So lame ending was lame. My apologies. But aside from that, I’d really appreciate some critique! (Er, a lot of it, rather.) Thanks for reading, though!
