Walk along w my London day. Food market, walks, bloody barber, lots of pix

A day off!

(Up until 5am trying to wrap up articles...)
The meeting I was to have morphed into a phone meeting... for planning my "secret" return visit to London and the fall salons with Coco De Mer.

With the day generally open but still on hold for a possible meeting, I decided to wonder around the center of town....

So I take you along with me on my day's trip in London...

the strange hot weather was gone, the rain threatened to fall all day and the moody spring clouds returned to swirling over head.

Off to the Tower Bridge tube station... First stop, foodie heaven of Borough Market. The market isn't crowed on Thursdays so I strolled through at my leaisure...

My samplings included... Corizo and fresh green sandwich from the Spanish market...

English and French oysters on the half shell...

Heirloom apples pressed in to raw juices from a lady who loved San Francisco...

grass fed free range meats and glistening fish...

Turkish delights in every color and flavor... French salts, cheeses and rich cream custards...

Nutty pesto... Dulce de leche and a cut of steaming Yerba Mate from the charming Argentinan boys...

slice of the dreamiest cheddar from Neal's Yard Creamery... Something K there.
Go hungry. Best nibbles, noshes and at great prices!
I loved chatting with the merchants.

Mmmm meat pies... Priest, poet or clerk?

Then a stroll down the street to the Tea and Coffee Museum. (More of a very very large personal collection and charming history lesson)

Along the bank of the Thames to the Tate Modern to watch an artist transform the exterior with a huge painting...

Not enough time to see the Duchamp, Man Ray, Picabia show, so just sat quietly in the turbine hall and enjoyed the hummmmmmmmm

Stroll along the Jubilee walk along the Thames towards the Eye. One day I'll actually take a flight on it.

I cross the River on the Hungerford Bridge.

People are swirling by... as I listen to the soundtrack of Sweeny Todd, in his merry old London towne.
Seemed fitting.
I wondered if I'd nodded to a Mr. Todd along the way?
Btw there are many meat pie and pastie joints here.

Walk through an oddly pidgeonless Trafalgar Square and spend a delightful 40 minutes at the National Gallery gazing on El Grecos, Van Gough, Roussou, Degas.
Bought something for the garden there.

Stroll into Covent Garden. Actually found a cheap clothes shop to pick up short and deck shoes for the week end's sailing trip.

Sat on the stoop in Liza Doolittle's old flower market and listened to all the languages as I ate my French custard. Power walked out of the tourist frenzy to Holborn.. and then to Liverpool street to meet up with Liz, Kitty and Lila.
(Lili on left, me, Kitty)

Off to Brick Lane for some righteous curry... stop by the best bagel shop in London for a nosh for tommorrow morning...
Gentle partings with friends... Until next time
