Hi folks,
I really appreciate you jumping me to the front of the line, but it looks like the deadline is no longer an issue. After about a month longer delay than I was expecting, I finally got an answer from the editor who was considering my novel. Here's the letter:
Hi Paige --
Apologies for such a tardy reply. I help onto this one for reconsideration, but ultimately, it's just not what we are looking for right now. Also, the present tense style doesn't seem to work for me too well.
Best of luck with it elsewhere!
Well, looks like another vote to ditch present tense. I've sold several short stories in present tense, but it doesn't seem to hold up well in longer works. I've never been able to write worth beans in any other tense, so I think I'll just get in the habit of switching everything I write to past just before I send it in.
I'm going to keep working on this novel anyway, and start looking for another market for it.
Paige
