Math in the Financial Crisis

Oct 15, 2008 20:53

I'm going to be teaching Math 181, a course in mathematics for non-technical majors, starting on Monday. It's a really fun course, and I always enjoy teaching it.

I would really like to incorporate material from the current financial crisis into the course. It would be a perfect example of how understanding mathematics can help them understand their world. Does anyone have any ideas for how to go about this?
