Sports

I'm not one for sports in general, but sometimes a sporting event just manages to encapsulate a great story. None of the paragraphs and paragraphs of text in a novel, nor exposition in a movie, to establish the characters: you understand that these are real-life people, and so the sport itself can be distilled to just the bare essence of the story, the sketch of the heroism that goes into the final result.

It grabbed me with the Red Sox victory over the Yankees coming back from 3-0 a few years ago, and it just got me again with Michael Phelps.
