I never wanted this to end. It's so beautiful and dreamy and full of wonder and fear, a fairytale set on the railroads: the premise could not be more perfect. I love trains and railroads, and I love the expansion of rail in North America and the idea of life lived out of boxcars and the mechanics of it all and it is my life long dream to be in charge of a station like Adam aahh I'm not even joking. And David with that fierceness of his translated into the fire, juxtaposed with the emotion of Adam who is completely human, ah I can't express how much it made me feel, visceral reactions to David's struggle and Adam's sadness. I love AUs that mirror real life, and the way they behaved with each other, almost purposefully sabotauging their happiness together because it's too much, it could be too perfect, more than they are willing to risk ugh boys <3 <3

I love your prose, it is so stunning. It was luscious and magical and everything that I love in fantasy, the use of the real world meshed with something more fantastical, so it is grounded in something tangible, something we can relate to, but with that mystery. If I tried to quote my favourite bits it would be the whole actual fic so I had better not.

Finally, the whole supporting cast was just beautiful. I am staunchly anti-City and although I try not to let that blind me in fandom I do genuinely find it difficult to enjoy most City players in fic but here you even endeared Mario to me. Mario! This is unthinkable. But as an unpredictable petulant shapeshifter who takes the form of cats, ugh yesss. And the first scene in which Joe sits with David in his train car was so beautiful and peaceful I want to clutch it to me and keep it for times when I need calm. Edin and Aleks - more characters I would actively avoid - were so lovely and with such depth even through their slight appearances.

Gush gush gush I just. Adam the station master, David full of fire. I never want another AU for them ever again. <3 <3 brb reccing this to literally everyone I know. Thank you SO much for writing this for ladyt. Aah. <3

Living in and being in charge of a station like that would be seriously bad ass! Ha ha! I'm glad you liked this, and your comment is so sweet ^_^ It's my first time writing this pairing as more than just a 'together a long time ago but you never see anything' reference, and I'm pleased it didn't fall to pieces.

Thank you <3
