I seem to have missed my deadline for completion of an original novel by age 30. Having a career you actually like and which takes up much of your physical and mental energy really puts a damper on writing, I've found. I have the luxury of working in a field where I get to flex my imagination pretty much daily. Even so, I seriously miss when I could sit for hours, until sunrise if I wanted, and just write and write and write.
