state of the fic union

My muse is balking at what I want to do in this chapter of HTC. Perhaps I must heed her and go a different direction.

I think on a whole I am...ready to be done with HTC. Considering it has become a beast of 500+ pages, it needs to end. I have learned much from it, and think it represents a big period of growth and transition for me as a writer. Thank you all for coming along for the wild and sometimes painfully slow ride. :)

Once my muse and I agree on what to do, we will be on our way towards the conclusion.

As for other stories, I have to admit that regretfully some will not be finished. Amphitrite and Some Blond Fool are in that category. The inspiration is gone, and frankly, it was flighty to begin with since neither are my OTP. Sang Froid will likely not go any further, either. It was written as a gift and was supposed to stand as a two-shot, and I continued it out of fun. There was never any grand plot idea.

Everything else is still on my to-do list. Mind, said list is loooooong and I won't even attempt to add to other stories until I am done with HTC. Life has become too busy for me to have much time to write, and gone are the days where I could write more than one thing at a time. Sad but true.

Once I finish the current batch of fics, I will likely be semi-retiring. It's about time for me to start writing original stories if I ever want to get the dream of publishing a novel off the ground. It is a goal that holds a lot of weight in my life. I know it will be a difficult road since publishing is very competitive and, hell, many publishers don't recognize talent when it's right in front of them (kinda like how JK Rowling got rejected several times before HP was published...bet those guys are kicking themselves now...), but I'm going to give it a try. :)

Heavy stuff, I know, but it's been cycling through my mind for a while.
