Title: Amidst the Fear
Words: 344
Rating: PG
Characters: Harry/Ginny
Author's Note: Okay, so I suppose this is set in DH but sort of AU when it comes to the books. I absolutely fell in love with the recent footage of the Harry/Ginny kiss in the DH movie from the MTV trailer (see icon or below) and was suddenly inspired to write a drabble. Sorry for any mistakes, I just finished it and it's nearly 1am :P

It was beginning.

Flocks of students poured down the stone staircases, running in panic towards the Great Hall. Ginny rushed alongside them, recklessly pushing her way through, racing behind Harry and the others.

Panic bubbled up inside her as she thought of the hours to come, terrible images came rushing to the forefront of her mind and she fought hard to push them away. Most terrifying of all was Harry, his face pale and lifeless against the cold ground. Her eyes found him as he made his way towards the Entrance Hall and she realised with startling clarity that she was running out of time to do what she so desperately wanted to.

At the bottom of the staircase she grabbed her chance and enclosed her hand around his, stopping his progress. Ron, Hermione, Neville and Luna all rushed ahead. Harry looked around and tugged against her hold, “Ginny? Come on--”

“Harry, wait,” Ginny requested urgently as several students hurried passed them.

Their eyes met and she saw in Harry’s gaunt and haggard face the same boy of eleven she had first fallen in love with at King’s Cross Station. He was a man now and the way she felt about him had changed, become something more, something intense and consuming. If she knew one thing about Harry it was that she would never be able to stop him, however, that didn’t mean she would let him go without a fight. Voldemort could not take that away from her.

She breathed deeply and stared into his questioning, dark green eyes. “Please don’t do anything stupid, Harry.”

With heat coursing through her veins and her heart thudding painfully in her chest, she gripped hold of his collar and pulled him into a deep kiss. For a single moment she forgot the danger, the fear, the uncertainly and allowed herself to be completely consumed by the feel of Harry’s lips against hers. It was like the sunlight bursting through the grey clouds after a long rainstorm.

As long as there was Harry there was hope.
