“Please, baby, put down the gun.”

“I’ll do it after you, sweetie.”

The three of them had been pointing their guns at each other for what seemed to be hours, but in reality, it had been merely minutes. This new girl-this new Olivia-had shattered her world into a million pieces. Erica didn’t know right from wrong-left from right. Everything was one big mess. A big web that she couldn’t seem to get out of, and it was starting to become too much for her. She felt as though she couldn’t breathe. There was a huge knot in her throat that was preventing her from speaking.

“Erica. It’s me. It’s Olivia.” How was she supposed to believe that when they both looked the same? Except for the hair. The hair was different. Olivia had been sporting this red hair for about two or three weeks now, but she said she hated yet, and seeing as though Erica hadn’t seen her for the past few days, it was possible that she had changed it.

“Just-be quiet. Both of you!” Erica never yelled at Olivia. Never. She was under so much stress at the moment that the thought of yelling at her lover did not seem to bother her.

As soon as those words left her mouth, they both became quiet, but none of them put their guns down. “You, Red. When’s our anniversary?” Erica asked through teary eyes, her gun switching from one Olivia to the other.

“March 21st,” Red Olivia said, shaking her head and forcing out a smile. Too easy, Erica thought, wiping a tear away with her sleeve.

“Where did we meet?” She asked no one in particular.

“It was a Saturday,” Blonde Olivia said, her face expressionless and solemn as she answered the question. “It was raining outside and you were called over to Boston to investigate a homicide. You were called because it was your field… Aliens and such.” A smile was displayed on her lips as she finished the ever so nostalgic memory. Meanwhile on the other side, Red Olivia dropped her gaze to the ground with a smile on her face. “You... What are you smiling at?” Erica asked with hostility.  “She forgot something.”

“And what’s that?” Erica asked, more tears pouring down her face. She refused to believe that there was anything else missing. That was exactly it. How else would anyone know? Especially this…evil clone.

“When we first met, it was at the bar after the case was over.”

Go on, Erica said in her head, knowing where the woman was going.

“You sat on the other end of the counter and you were looking at me with a smile on your face. And I’ll never forget this. You took a sip of your Scotch-which I found strange in a woman, drinking such a hard drink-and then you licked your lips while looking straight at me.” Red Olivia smiled, and another tear ran down her face.

“And you smiled,” Erica continued.

“And I looked down, at my drink with a smile on my face. For about ten minutes we didn't take our eyes off of each other. Later, I moved to your side and we began to talk,” said Blonde Olivia. Making it hard, once more, for Erica to identify who was who.

Without thinking about it once more, Erica looked at Red Olivia, and pointed her gun at Blonde Olivia-she pulled the trigger and a bullet landed right between Blonde Olivia’s eyes. She fell to the ground with a thud as her body became quiet.

Erica saw the real Olivia collapse to the ground with a gasp, happy to be alive. “You didn’t have to kill her,” Olivia said as Erica wrapped her arms around her.

“We didn’t need her alive.” Erica turned her back to the bleeding body, taking Olivia’s face in both of her hands and looking straight into her eyes. Her eyes were both red and puffy due to all the crying. Her whole body shook with fright and happiness.

“How did you know who to shoot?” That was a question that Erica had been asking herself ever since her finger touched the trigger. “Because,” Erica started, “I know you. I know that look in your eye. So hurt. So insecure. So unsure. I love you, and I will always know the real you.” Erica knew that this wasn’t what Olivia wanted to hear, but it was all Erica could say.

“I love you, too.”

Erica’s hands pulled Olivia’s face towards her own, their lips interlocking as their faces gently collided against one another. The two of them didn’t move for quite some time, letting their lips savor each other’s taste-the taste that they both thought they would ever experience again. “Never stay away from me,” Erica said, pulling away to speak only to resume the kissing after the words escaped her lips. “Never.” She said, pulling away, then wrapping her arms over Erica’s shoulders. “Never,” she said through their pressed lips.
