1. What did you do in 2014 that you'd never done before?
Lived in 2014. Before this I had only tried earlier years.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t tend to make them, so don’t have trouble keeping any.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not that I know of…

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not anyone very close. An aunt, but I hadn’t seen her in years.

5. What countries did you visit?
Wales and England. (In addition to the USA where I live…)

6. What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
More performers at the Phoenix Swords shows.

7. What date from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I don’t think 2014 has any I will try and remember. But, a bunch of things I did will be etched in memory. The sword class in Wales, Stonehenge and the Grand Canyon stand out. Changing jobs is a big thing too.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I got a lot done at work… I was able to give my wife her birthday wish.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I don’t think I messed up anything too badly this year. Or, at least it has not become known to me yet if I did.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing major.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
It’s a tie between that sword class and the trip for my wife.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Lots of people!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The place I had been working.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Food.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Those two big trips I keep mentioning.

16. What song will always remind you of 2014?
I can’t think of any that will stick with me for 2014 specifically.

Older.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Exercise

No one thing comes to mind.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Visiting my family in Florida.

22. Did you fall in love in 2014?
I remain in love with my wife. But, that’s been true since 1983…

23. How many one-night stands?
Our bedroom has only one nightstand.

24. What was your favourite TV program?
Doctor Who.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No the cast list is pretty consistent on that.

26. What was the best book you read?
Don’t know. I read a lot. Hard to pick a best.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Can’t think of any standout this year.

28. What did you want and get?
A new job.

29. What did you want and not get?
A winning lottery ticket for hundreds of millions of dollars.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Guardians of the Galaxy.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 51 last month and my wife and I went to dinner with a friend of ours visiting from out of state.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I was pretty happy with it, so I can’t think of anything.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
Consistent with years past.

34. What kept you sane?
You’re making an assumption about my sanity I’m not sure is valid. But, if it is, it would be my wife.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None come to mind.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Tough one. I guess the protests about the police treatment of people of color.

37. Who did you miss?
I miss my sister.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I’ve met all sorts of people. I have no idea how to even measure who would be best.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014.
Some times a $800 resume is worth it.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
My personal theme song has been "Dancing in the Ruins" by Blue Oyster Cult for many years. It still is.
