Twenty years of records

So, tomorrow it is 20 years since I started keeping a journal. Back in 1994 it was not on line. For many years it just lived on my computer as a text document, password protected in case anyone found it on my hard drive.

There was no one particular reason I started it.
I had just bought my first laptop. A Mac Duo230, at time one of the fastest laptops on the market:

4 megs of memory with a 40 meg hard drive. That was cutting edge!

Of course compared to my current work laptops it doesn’t stack up well.

Anyhow, I was working at the telecom place (http://fbhjr.livejournal.com/74401.html ) where I hated my job.
Because he had awful computers there that really couldn’t do what we wanted, I started bringing in my laptop to use for everything other than CAD.
And, I started writing down what was going on in my life.

For various reasons I switched to online in 2007. I still make occasional entries in the old file. But, the vast majority over the last 7 years has been on line.

It’s an interesting record for me to go back and read.
I complain a lot. Even more there than here, I do it here a lot.
Still good to have the record.

anniversary, reflection, laptop, computer
