As part of the 5 Questions Meme,
discreet sent me 5 questions. The answers are below.
Anyone who wants me to ask them 5 questions, let me know.
1. If you had not went into an engineering field, what other career peaked your interest?
I was expected to be an engineer from the time I was born. It was far too much of the life path my parents planned for me to avoid.
But, for a while, I wanted to be an astronomer. I’ve always loved space science and still try and keep up a bit with it.
My mother did her best to talk me out of it because "they don’t make any money".
What would make me happy was not considered important in a life career.
What finally got me off of that was talking with an astronomer. I was told that you really couldn’t do anything in the field until after you had your Phd. I knew I could never afford to get one, so gave up on that.
2. What is your all time favorite movie?
I don’t know. There are a lot of movies I like. Harvey, Star Wars, 12 Monkeys and many others. What is my favorite depends on my mood. I don’t think there is one all time favorite of mine.
3. If money was no expense, where would you like to travel to?
Everywhere! Seriously, I love to see new places. If I ever came into a huge amount of money like a mega million lottery or something, I’d start by visiting everyone on my friends list.
4. What other city in the United States would you be interested in living in? And why?
It isn’t a city. But, if I had all the money from question #3, I’d like to give a try to Fairfax, VT. It is where my father grew up. And, his father. And, his father. My family had lived there for a couple of centuries.
It might be nice to try it myself.
5. What kind of music do you listen to? Suggest some artists for me to check out.
Like movies, I like a lot of music. I have yet to find a kind where I don’t like any examples of it. But, I do tend to like music that was fairly mainstream back in the 70’s and 80’s.
My favorite is Thomas Dolby. And, "Astronauts and Heretics" is my favorite album of his. By all means, check it out.
I also am very fond of sea chanties. I like Jack Salt and Crimson Pirates. The Pirates would be easier to find CDs to try…
