Snow on a work day

Dec 17, 2013 20:38

About 10 this morning it began to snow.

I was stuck in meetings all afternoon, so didn’t see it until 5 when I left.

I was surprised that the roads did not appear to have been plowed, sanded or salted.

The major highways had enough traffic to be OK, but the secondary roads were quite bad.

One of the things that REALLY annoys me is folks passing in the breakdown lane at times like this.

The next town over from us is a store that sells “erotic items”. I found it very funny that the biggest snow plow I saw all day was outside that store.

It took me two hours to reach the boarders of my home town. I really started to worry when the ambulance went speeding past.

There is a big hill at the edge of town. We live up on that hill. I was not at all sure my little Prius would make it up the hill.
And, there were flashing police lights at the top.

As I drove up the hill, I knew that if I stopped I would not get going again. So, I kept saying “Don’t stop! Don’t stop!” to the cars ahead of me.
I passed the broken down car on the road just as the police officer stepped out to stop traffic.
He stopped the car after me.

I know the lottery is up to $500,000,000 tonight.
I feel like I won it just by getting up that hill.

Of course when I crested it to get to our apartment on the other side, another accident.

But, I managed to get into our parking lot without too much trouble. (No, not using the breakdown lane.)

It was a long drive home.

But, I was very lucky as my wife talked to me the whole time. (I have hands free in the car.) So, that helped me not go crazy with all this.

Getting in tomorrow, maybe crazy.

snow, work, annoyed, traffic, good wife
