Weekend adventures

The weekend got off to an excellent start Friday night when my wife made a pie.

I’m afraid there are no photos of it whole as I ate first and took photos second.

I didn’t have to work Saturday, but was on call in case of problems. We decided we could fit in a movie so went to see Looper. As it is fall foliage season we decided to take the long way to the movie theater and drive around the Wachusett Reservoir. (OK not totally around it. Only about 1/3 around it.)

Anyhow, it was a nice drive.

Of course we went past “THE SENIC” part too:

(It is sort of weird that when we got back from the movies my pseudo step sister in law, who I did friend on facebook a couple of months ago, posted a photo of that building only 30 feet from where my wife took this. So, she must have been driving on the same road about the same time. It’s the closest we’ve come to meeting since my wife’s father died.)

On a similar note, we did drive by the graveyard where my wife’s father is buried, but did not get out and dance.

The center of that town was having some sort scarecrow contest.

Our town cancelled theirs due to mosquitos and EEE.

The movie theater was not overflowing with people. Again.

Not that I mind. But, I’m not sure it bodes well for movies in general.

Then we went to pick up my wife’s car in the shop. Sadly it needs about $2000 in repairs.

We did half now and half later this week.

Then, off to the supermarket.

When we got there, a Jeep was broken down in the entrance way. We offered to push him, but he told us “I can do it myself.” So, we went in shopping.

We found pre-cooked, deep fried, turkey breasts for sale.

I was a bit intrigued, but not enough to actually buy one.

When we came out the guy was still there.

I’m not sure if he realized we were offering to push him out of the way so he’d be less of a pain to everyone trying to come in or out. But, he again refused help, so we drove around him. Personally I think he is very inconsiderate for blocking an entrance for an hour ore more. But, that’s me.

When we got home, my wife wanted to take photos of the trees around our apartment complex. So we switched to our actual cameras, everything above was iPhone photos, and walked about the place taking photos.

My wife took photos of trees, I took photos of my wife taking photos.

She did get one of me too.

This is where we live. We are the top floor apartment of the corner across from where these were taken.

I like living on a hill over the valley between us and Worcester.

There is a nice stream that runs through our courtyard. Right now it is very leafy.

I like the stream a lot.

This is my usual memory of fall in New England. Leaves to rake.

But, I haven’t had to rake them since I moved out from my parents 31 years ago.

My little car was waiting, but we had done this bit on foot, so left it under the trees and went back inside.

It was a very nice relaxing Saturday. I feel a lot better now and am less inclined to yell at plumbers.
