My father used to define an “infernal device” as something that was clearly designed by the devil to be so useful you couldn’t do without it, but so frustrating it drove you crazy.
I think the “car clam” might well qualify.
It is very useful, and I remain quite grateful to those folks who let us use it.
But, the reason we only use it once every 5 years or so is that it is quite hard to get positioned, tied down and then loaded.
So, I’m glad we’ve got it, it is very useful, but it does drive me crazy.
