When my cousin came to visit earlier this month she spent a lot of time looking at the leaves of the trees. So, on my adventures today I took a lot of pictures of leaves of trees so she can see them.
Sadly, last night my belt broke.
You can make jokes about my doctor calling me fat the day before my belt gave up the ghost, but the real cause of it was I had to punch a new hole in it as it wouldn’t go tight enough for me. I punched the hole with an X-acto knife, which turned out to be a bad ideas as the hole gradually spread from the center out and the belt split apart.
Now my own plants continue to do well.
But the dragon plant has grown up so tall it isn’t in the sun anymore. I’ve got to figure out how to get it more sun.
Leaving that as a future project, I set off for the 3 mile trip on a hot day to the police uniform store to get a new belt.
It was hot. It was humid. It was up hill both ways.
But, I got a new belt for a reasonable cost and set off on the return trip with far more confidence that my pants would make the trip with me.
I did note that the trees planted in the middle of the road seem to be doing well.
I am not at all sure it was worth 2 months of traffic jams for this effect. But, the new intersection has far less ruts in the road then the old one.
On the way back up the hill I saw the purple flowers that show up about this time every year.
This always reminds me of my sister. She would come home in early August for my grandmother’s birthday and always take a trip to the swamps to look at these flowers.
(Yes, it is strange my half sister came home for the birthday of a person who was not related to her. But, that’s the way it was.)
I also stopped at the Staples near me to get more ink for my printer. Between the Staples and the supermarket I go to is a gully with a lot of trees in it.
The following pictures are of those trees for my cousin to look at.
I thought this one was very interesting because the leaves curled up along the edges. It’s the only one that did that, but almost all of the leaves on the tree did it.
