Vacation part 4b, Walls before Castles

Mar 25, 2023 20:16

After visiting Hadrian’s Wall, we drove to Scotland.

We went to Stirling Castle.

It was fairly damp out, but that didn’t stop us from looking around. I think it would have great views under other situations, but…

We did eventually go into buildings too. Not just to get out of the rain…

My wife loves the gargoyles and other figures on the buildings.

Then, back inside again…

We did find a woman practicing her singing in one room. She said she needed the echo to sound good, but I thought she was excellent.

I guess the carved faces on the ceiling are a big thing in this castle.

And, they had benches!

Then, out some more.

We both liked this fellow in the gift shop, but the luggage was full.

I’m not saying we stayed until they closed, but we had to exit through the small gate as the main one was shut.

Then down the steep, narrow, hill in the rain.

We then drove over to the hotel, which required tricky parking…

The room was the smallest all trip, but had a great view.

Even at dinner at the restaurant below, I kept looking out at the tide going under the bridge.

Part of that was worry about the tide for the next day. But, that would wait for the morning.
