The death of my wife’s uncle prompted me to look for old photos of him in our collection.
Given the archives, this was several hours and I didn’t find the one she wanted…
As of Monday I started testing negative for Covid, so began going back out into the world. Mostly to the market.
By Wednesday my wife was testing negative, so we decided we should go somewhere after being cooped up for more than a week.
There was an exhibit my wife wanted to see at the Smith College Art Museum.
https://scma.smith.edu/art/exhibitions/brought-life-painted-wood-sculpture-europe-1300-1700-0 I know, we have 7 more months to get to it, but the best way to make sure we do get to it is to go. So, we went. It’s about a 2 hour drive each way from where we live.
I had 3 different parking apps on my phone, but not the one for there.
I got it sorted and we went over to the museum.
One of the things I like about this museum is their interesting benches.
The exhibit my wife wanted to see was very interesting. Especially carvings of folks from the time frame our sword troupe does. I also liked how they had directional music over certain objects and kept it contained to that. Interesting way to do that.
I liked this one.
And, plenty of other things too.
And, a shop! Very convenient the day before my wife’s birthday…
Then, back home.
Friday morning, my sister’s ashes arrived.
My bank account still isn’t showing the amount removed from my account for it. But, they must have gotten the check to have sent it.
It was my wife’s birthday. Folks may remember previous years when to get her favorite cake from the store, I had to buy two single layer ones and squish them together to make the double layer one she likes.
But, this year they had the double layer one for the first time in at least half a decade! (No, you can’t order it. The market buys them from a a bakery that makes what they want…)
The local botanical garden has a light show each holiday season, and the last day is always my wife’s birthday. So, I always try and get tickets for that night. (We’re members, so I don’t have trouble getting the tickets, it’s making sure that the gardens are open in winter as storms can close them, and often do this time of year.)
So, this year the weather was surprisingly warm (10C), so off we went.
I won’t lie, there are a lot of photos here. Just scroll through.
For New Year’s Eve morning we went over to our friends for a brunch that was very nice. We made the waffles, and others brought other stuff. It was a very nice time.
