It was nice an sunny in the morning.
It did seem a bit windy at our destination.
It was finally our turn to be in the early set ashore so we had breakfast early.
It was decided it was too windy there, so it was cancelled. Sad.
So, off to area 2.
I was very struck by the color of the water. Not at all like home, even if a similar temperature.
We got to the new spot fairly quickly.
We were very ready to hear our number called.
And, it soon was.
They used the bigger zodiacs for this and we quickly made our way to shore.
It was a very rocky beach.
We were given our directions and only 45 minutes on shore.
So, we climbed up the rocks to the spine of the narrow isthmus we were on.
Don't know how the phone pole got here.
There were a couple of elephant seals sunning themselves.
There were lots of rocks and penguins too.
We would hear the ice falling off the glacier. Since it was low tide it landed on beach, not water, so didn't cause a problem or the boats.
I tried to get a video of it falling, but always just missed it.
One penguin wanted to walk between us, so we made way.
It was our last time on shore, so I took photos of my wife with lots of backdrops.
Then, back to the boots.
As we were one of the first groups, we got to watch everyone else go after we got back, showered and changed clothes. Going early is nice...
In the afternoon we sailed around the islands some.
We had time to do afternoon tea with their nice tea menus.
By dinner time we were out to sea and fog covered everything.
For those wondering, when going through the rough Drake Passage, they drain the pool, but keep the hot tub going.
We're still a long way from South America.
The birds do seem to like drifting in our wake.
There was a deck party in the evening. I went and found the woman who drove our boat and had the guide to icebergs my wife liked. I photographed the book so we can get our own copy.
