My wife noticed this week that when the light is right the shadow of a giant monster eating something appears on one of our walls.
Tracking this down took more work than expected due to the number of gargoyles we have…
Ultimately it turned out to be our wombat.
That wombat is very judgmental and who knows what its shadow gets up to…
My doorbell rang Tuesday and I got a package from the new company name my company is switching to.
There was a tote bag, water bottle, pen, and strangely a logo wireless phone charger…
We found some old photos of a cook out we went to at our friend’s house two dozen years ago…
And one of me at the science museum my wife and I both worked at decades ago. (Me in the 80’s her the 90’s into the 00’s…)
Today my wife and I have been married 28 years.
We got married at a castle in costume and about half the folks there were also in costume.
So, today we decided to go off to the Renaissance faire in the area.
First we stopped to pick up a picnic lunch at a deli we really like as after today they are only going to be open weekends.
This is the only deli I know of where you can still get Kinishes like I used to as a kid.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knish Not sure I can sneak over there on weekdays. We’ll have to see about that.
But, off to the faire!
Sadly, traffic getting there was bad.
Lots of cars in the lot…
And, the biggest crowd I have been a part of it a long, long time…
My wife and I wore masks in the crowd, most did not…
It was a bit better inside where folks could spread out more.
Back in 1993 when we got married at the castle, both my wife and myself wore costumes from the same place.
And, they are still at the faire these days.
So, my wife and I both got new outfits to perform in.
Then, we crossed the faire to the shop that makes most of our performance swords.
I won’t lie, there are a lot of machine made ones from China in what our troupe uses. But, we both prefer the ones made by this smith, his kids and grandkids.
You’ll have to wait for the practice photos from tomorrow for those photos…
It was still very crowded.
But, we know where to go at these events to get away from folks.
We noticed the parade had a unicycle unicorn rider.
They also had a monster…
The woman of glass from our sword troupe was there as part of her dance group doing a witches dance between jousts.
If she came to the idea we had attended the faire to support her in her dancing, we did not dissuade this.
And, we did go back to the joust field to see her show.
My wife too this video of the witch dance:
https://youtu.be/HU_AwRUhDd0 Once we saw the woman of glass dance, we grabbed our stuff and drove the hour home, made a quick stop at the store for supplies and then ordered take away Chinese food for dinner.
While I can’t lie and say I enjoyed being around all those people, it was a pretty good anniversary other than that.
