I dreamed my wife and I were taking a road trip with one of the managers of the McDonalds we worked at 35+ years ago, Rick.
Rick was driving the car, and not well. We were weaving all over because he spent more time turning around to talk to us than he did looking at the road ahead. And, he wasn’t talking about anything important, just gossiping.
We were going down a hill on a highway near here. (Route 495 north by the 290 junction if you care…)
Traffic was very bad and we were going slowly. So, the fact we were weaving wasn’t too bad.
But, as we got to the bottom of the hill where it curves to the right, Rick drifted over and hit a car on our left.
“Watch where we’re going!” I shouted at him.
He wrenched the car to the left and we hit a piece of metal sticking out from the guard rail on the right.
As we stopped, I could hear a man from the car we hit swearing at us.
“Looks like it’s going to be a fight,” Rick said, jumping out of the car.
I got out too and we walked towards the car with the swearing man in it.
“You fuckers going to fight me!” the man said as he got out. He must have been at least 10 feet (3 meters) tall. I don’t think I was as tall as his elbows and I’m above average in height.
“Let’s do it!” I said running towards him. I grabbed his left leg and the knee and lifted it off the ground to tip him over.
But, he was tall enough that he could brace his other leg far back and lean on the car with his arm, so I couldn’t tip him over.
As he tried to stomp back down on me, Rick just stood and watched.
“We’re in this fight because of you!” I shouted at him. “The least you can do is help!”
Dream ends
I have no idea what this is about. Rick is actually a nice guy and I’ve never known him to be in any kind of fight. Or to be a reckless driver. Although that McDonalds is decades in my past, Rick is still a friend with me on facebook. He’s a dentist now and very into physical fitness.
And, I’ve never had a car accident turn into a fight. Nor am I known for attacking first in a fight.
Although I will grant you that tipping people over is one of the things I do when I am in a fight.
There was one time when my wife and I pulled up to a McDonalds and found Rick working there. He climbed out the drive through window and into our car. But, that was more than 20 years ago now. (Yes, he still worked weekends at a McDonalds after becoming a dentist as they gave him stock options.)
So, there is a weird car experience with Rick. But, like I said, more than 20 years ago, so why would I dream about it now?
I have no idea.
